Premonition

Geoff-Allen

Resident megalomaniac
Premonition

It's too late to say good-bye
Silent objects pierce the sky
Tormented by their own delusions
Strangers talk of old solutions

Thief

Rogue Theologian
I felt it coming
though I saw not
a twist of fate
a change of plot

I lay beneath a night time light
and touched upon my pending plight

wounded deep but did not bleed
I lay helpless and in need

and to this day when I regress
I cringe to dwell upon the mess

I walked away from what should have killed
I did not sweat, I was not chilled

and Death does follow
a playful joker
to call my bluff as
we play poker

he overshadows my bed at night
when I awake
he takes flight

he pulls my pillow from beneath my head
I turn to face what I dearly dread
but as I open my eyes to see
he has vanished
he did flee

but now and then with bold affront
he takes hold and does confront

I have wakened to myself at rest
as a dead man
hands on chest

the pillow tucked beneath my head
I lay as if a man be dead

the red blanket drawn and smooth
a point of which I can't disprove

he wore red as he took my arm
I awoke with much alarm

Death had laid me down to rest
but not to die
only for jest

hehehehehehe
