Passengers refuse to allow holiday jet to take off until two Asian men are thrown off

Don't the real terrorists shave their beards and all this sort of thing before they carry out attacks?

I wouldn't be too worried if I'd been there, but I can't promise I wouldn't have asked someone - the ticket sales lady, the doorman, etc. - if they had both been checked, their coats and things.

I should speak Arabic at an airport. :) Or maybe just say 'Huja Ba Ba Lodaday'. Might work just as well. Just so you know, I made that up.

Kidding. But I wish I could hear what they were saying. They could be speaking... Persian?

I honestly have no words. I'm shocked that they were taken off the plane for no good reason other than "looking like a terrorist".

That airline should In my opinion face a heavy fine for throwing the wrong people of the plane. Here the problem was clearly that some passangers behaved irrationaly so THEY should have been escorted of the plane NOT the other way around.

I love Scandinavians.
Some people must spend too much time in front of their televisions.

No long haired freaks allowed. If you know the song reference you get frubals.

Seriously, I'm pretty rough and scruffy looking, long hair, five o'clock shadow three days old. In fact I make it a point to wear an anti-war or che t-shirt whenever I fly and I fly quite often. I have arabic tattoos on my fore arms, amongst others, but they are visible if take a quick look. I've never been given more than the once over because I'm white! This is just another example of a fear based culture. What do we have to fear but ourselves?!?!?!

What's funny is that there is a large stereotype in the UK that Muslim = brown person. As if being Muslim is some sort of 'racial' identity. My friend was shocked to learn that white Muslims actually existed.

Had these two men been from Russia/Chechnya/Bosnia (sporting beards also) or anywhere else, no one would of took notice I bet.

And I agree, it should have been the complaining customers whom were kicked off, not the arabs.

"There was no fuss or panic. People just calmly and quietly got off the plane. There were no racist taunts or any remarks directed at the men.
Just because you don't make a racist comment doesn't mean you're not a racist.

Now, can someone explain to me why if these men didn't do anything wrong but be born not white why they didn't just take off without the people who didn't want to get on? If these people paid for thier flight ad then decide that they don't want to get on, then why not just leave without them? Absolutely rediculous.

Oh, and on a semi-unrelated subject, I was unaware that people from the Middle East are Asian now. Unless they were Indian, but it doesn't say. Actually the article seems to go the great lengths not to make this seem like a racist issue when in fact it is.

Technically, middle easterners are asian, at least that is how I fill out applications (or caucasian, depending on what choices are available). :)

Either way, we do not qualify for 'minority status'! :sad4: Would have been nice for college

There isn't a racial distinction between someone from Thailand and someone from Iran?

Well, 'Central Asian' we would be... but I think for census info and whatnot we are lumped in with all asians.

Naw you're right. It's called the Middle East, because it's considered part of Asia. Turkey is the border (more or less) between Europe and Asia.
