Origin of Sin

Could original sin be the spiritual death, when the Spirit becomes incarnated, incorporated, entombed, encased in third density matter and forgets it's true nature?

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

or?????

Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, “Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.”And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, “Pay what you owe.”So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, “Have patience with me, and I will pay you.”He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. Then his master summoned him and said to him, “You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?”(Matt. 18:23–33)

I would say that Original Sin is sentient beings' vulnerability to mistake the subjective for the objective--aka delusion. Your mileage may vary.

we are born into ignorance of ourselves

Luke 11:52
Woe unto you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in you hindered.

I guess it's depending on what the teachers, or preachers teach us. And then we will sin ?

Ezekiel 45:20
You are to do the same on the seventh day of the month for anyone who sins unintentionally or through ignorance; so you are to make atonement for the temple.

Hebrews 9:7
But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.

hey Fool,
I'm getting tired of your preaching non-meaning comparisons.
Do have thoughts of your own, those that make sense ?

I was thinking something like that.

When man became self-aware and imagined that he could be better.

"Original sin" is explained through the Garden of Eden myth, and refers to man's selfish, self-centered, self-interest which made us want to be our own gods. So the fundamental reason for our separation from God (which is what "sin" means--separation from God) is our human nature of selfishness, which is diametrically opposed to God's nature of love. (Hate is not the opposite of love--even God hates--selfishness is the opposite of love.) Wanting to be God himself is what got Satan thrown out of the pool, too.

And so we delude ourselves into thinking WE are in control (free will), when actually, God is in control of everything, and we spawn all evil through selfishness (it is described as "the love of money" in one instance)--because that is our nature, and our original sin.

The notion of sin was cooked up by clerical types to induce feelings of morbid guilt in people so as to make them dependent on those same clerics.

Just part of the Great Scam.

You'd think if that were the case, they would have said that sucking up to clerics was the only way to absolve sin. Instead they made people dependent on Jesus for that. Seems like a design flaw, if the intention was to elevate clerics.

so you don't believe the lack of knowledge would cause someone to err?

you don't believe that there are two types of errors. errors from ignorance and willful/intentional errors.

Yet, the notion that one could obtain that absolution by oneself is a recent development. After all, the clerics still run the Sunday schools (or their equivalent), where the vile idea of original sin is instilled.

It still keeps the pews and collection plates full.
