North Korea nuclear test

Everyone's favourite mad dictator is at it again! Yes, The naughty kid at the back of the class of international diplomacy has been lighting their own farts in the hope of weaponising them for the fifth time running:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/sep/09/north-korea-nuclear-test-earthquake

The nuclear blast is estimated at 10 kilotonnes causing a magnitude 5.3 earthquake (Hiroshima was 15 kilotonnes). This is twice the size of North Korea's previous nuclear test so a major increase in the yield of the explosion. The test appears to have been timed to coincide with the anniversary of the nations founding in 1948. It's still breaking news so for Live updates see here:

Maybe he takes after his dad in just wanting some international attention.
(Contains some bad language whilst insulting the dear leader)

Any thoughts on the impending apocalypse?

This is what you get for not nuking China back in the Korean War.

Well as long as they stay somewhat sane among their leading figures nothing bad will happen. But if the Korean War ever gets hot again it will make the conflicts in the Middle East look like school parties.

If only China wasn't so stupid. This ain't the 70s, they could live with a unified Korea next door. Also more people to buy cheap Chinese stuff.

China has pretty soundly told North Korea to go take a long walk off a short pier.

The problem is that North Korea doesn't need nuclear weapons, or China, to make Round 2 of the Korean conflict one of the most devastating wars in human history. There is enough conventional artillery pointed a Seoul(one of the most densely populated cities in the world) to kill millions and injure throngs more. No one wins a second flare-up in the Korean War, least of all any of Korea.
