For Catholics: do you think the music in the Novus Ordo is what makes it special?

Or do you prefer the Latin Mass and its Gregorian Chants?

Definitely the second of the two videos above, the TLM (Traditional Latin Mass).

I actually attend Novus Ordo masses myself here in the UK and I've never experienced music akin to that in your first video, with guitars and the like.

The Novus Ordos I've been to have much more solemn and reverential organ music, which I think is more fitting for the sacredness and mystery of the Divine Liturgy.

This is nothing but a personal aesthetic preference on my part, however. I think its good that the Roman liturgy is variable in this way, in terms of how it is celebrated - as every person likes somewhat different 'flavours' of worship style.

    I understand.
I think they are both beautiful in their own way.

Guitars and similar are joyous instruments. There are also solemn songs with piano.

In Italy priests will allow any religious song that speaks of God, Jesus or Virgin Mary, during Mass.
    Even those taken from movies.

“Good morning. Please open your Gather hymnal to number 611, ‘On Eagle’s Wings.’ Number six-one-one.” So many a Catholic Mass begins, prompting weary sighs from the traditionalists in the pews. In the community of Catholic contemporary-hymn haters, there are two Bibles, if you will—Why Catholics Can’t Sing, and the Gather hymnal. One, they might say, explains the other.

Because priests love music. They have taste.
You surely know that this song from Romeo and Juliet was composed especially for the movie.
Well...it is sung in churches here in Italy.
It doesn't matter if traditionalists consider this profane. All that matters is Beauty. Beauty is Truth.
