Most Warlike Modern Nation

Using number of wars involved in my guess the winner would be Great Britain.

I think my humble little nation of Australia would get a mention with 13 since 1900. Not a bad effort for a peace loving people.

Boer War, South Africa: 1899-1902
Boxer Rebellion, China: 1900-1901
World War 1, all over the place: 1914-1918. It could be argued that we started it by firing at a German merchant ship trying to sneak out of Melbourne.
Russian Civil War, Russia: 1918-1920. Not sure what we were doing there.
World War 2, all over the place.: 1939-1945
Korean War, Korea: 1950-1953
Malayan Emergency, Malaya: 1950-1960
Borneo Confrontation, Malaysia/Indonesia: 1963-1966
Vietnam War, Vietnam: 1965-1973
Gulf War, Kuwait/Iraq: 1990-1991
War in Afghanistan, Afghanistan: 2001-2021
Iraq War, Iraq: 2003-2009
Operation Astute, East Timor: 2006-2013

There's also been involvement in the Cook Islands against rebels and in Papua New Guinea against rebelion Bougainville Island. Apparently they don't count as wars. We're still angry with Britain for not needing our help with the Falklands.

The UK needs to stop playing at World War Games, focus more on a larger and better Coastguard service, and spend the billions saved on Needs-at-Home.

They're still living in "the sun never sets on the British Empire" glory days?

I don't think so, not any more. But as a country, we haven't come to terms with the modern world very well, nor decided on what our place in that world ought to be. Hence our inability to maintain a partnership with our European neighbours, who are probably glad top see the back of us anyway.

Without checking my history books, I question that first place (and the metric).
The US has been at war longer and they have started more wars than the UK. (I'm not so sure about the total number but I suspect they are second even by that criterion).

Agreed, and that what has lead us to Brexit.
Useless nation we are. Although to be fair it is England, not the UK, that is going backwards. And mainly rural England.
I'm embarrassed to live there.

Would have helped if I defined what I meant by "modern". I started in the 1900's because Australia didn't become a nation until 1901 but I was thinking of all the European Wars that Britain was involved in before 1900. The U.S. would definitely be up near the top.

We haven't fallen far from the tree, the UK.
Now we want Nuclear powered submarines. I wonder what happens when a few of those get blown up. No more fish or sea plants?
If Britain and the US are going to help us then they should do that without us investing in nuclear powered submarines.

Could be. The list of armed conflicts of the US is pretty extensive: List of armed conflicts involving the United States - Wikipedia

And then there's foreign interventions: Foreign interventions by the United States - Wikipedia

Well, I think our leaders are.
As soon as a Brit gets to be PM they decide that they should be an international figure.
I think we need a PM who will focus on our four countries, Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland...first and foremost. And no more playing at huge aircraft carriers! :)

Does that include re-enactments? ;0]
