List of names

Namaste all,

I have been trying to find a complete list of the 108 and the 1008 names of Lakshmi. I have tried two different sources, but I end up realizing that several names are repeated in the list, so it's not an accurate list. Does anyone know of an online source that has the Sahasranam and Ashtotram (sp?) for Lakshmi?

Will they be the same names as Devi? Bevause the devi bhagavatam has them.

Lots of times names get repeated. Some names will also come up in several lists of more than one God. Not sure why they get repeated. Other that making it more difficult to memorise (you have to think about where in the long list you are, and what follows this time) .

There are also several versions of sahasranamas and ashtotarams. So I'd suggest if you find one that intuitively seems sound, just to use it.

Good luck.

I have a copy of this I got from somewhere. I've never recited it, so I haven't checked if there are duplicates. On a quick inspection it doesn't look like there are any.

Because it wasn't going to be hard enough:rolleyes:

If you can memorise a Sahasranama, you are totally amazing. The astotaram, not so much, but even that is hard. Here's a hint ... 9 at a time, get the first 9 down pat, then work on the second nine, etc. As you use them, add more.

I think even the head priest at my old temple needed a reference page for the sahasranama :D

I will practice with the astotaram. Thanks for the tip!

I learned two of them (Ganesha, Siva) on my way to work in the car many years ago. The odd part is there were a couple of crossover names that appeared in each list, and I would notice the shift in vibration before the names themselves, when I shifted over to the wrong ones. Then straightening it out was tricky. Fortunately, the Gods and devotees were both very forgiving. I'm very slowly working on relearning them now. No daily commute.

Thank goodness for the apology chant at the very end. :)

Well, first, thank you for that list! At a quick glance I don't see any repetition. I have looked through that first link already, but I will check out the second one.

Thank you! :namaste:

My pleasure. ;) I can be good for some things at times. :D

I hate to pee in anyone's Cheerios, but one night at temple a large group of pre-teens recited the full 30 minutes of the Sri Vishnu Sahasranama, in total unison, not missing a beat, without a book. :D Totally amazing.

Pee away, that's amazing. :D

Don't pee in my fruity pebbles though. That tastes like childhood. Don't ruin my childhood, mmm'k.
