Leftists suggest re-education camps, firing squads, banning talk radio to deprogram Trump supporters

Confess as in a religious revival?

Much more like the cultural revolution,
wherein one must confess his ideological errors, and be sent to hsrd labor until he is
properly re educated.

Well, it's just the American style. You may have heard of this guy:

It's kind of how it is.

These left wingers sound like the red guard.

Critism and re education.

Fortunately, we do have some safeguards against things like that. That's why both the far-right and the far-left haven't really been able to gain any real power at all. People always seem to fear the worst about the other side. Just like people fear that Trump is going to set up some kind of Nazi takeover, while others fear that Biden is going to set up a Communist dictatorship.

Neither is likely to happen.

"Acknowledge their complicity in evil"? What is your actual goal in making that a requisite? Do you want to bring about political stability and a way to move forward and past our current dilemmas? Or do you want people to come forth and publicly "confess their sins" like they're at some evangelistic revival?
In general, I'm more focused on liberals and the Democratic establishment than I am on actual dialogue with Trumpists.

Biden and the like have already talked about reaching across the aisle in some sort of spirit of compromise. I think this is unwise if the people they're compromising with - who have worked hard against freedom, progress, and human rights over the past four years - haven't shown any sign that they're going to change their objectives.

You aren't going to get political stability or progress on important issues by cooperating with people who are trying to undermine you.

Except that you might get some of them (probably the majority) to stop trying to undermine you.
