Kissing in public

Are you okay with it, or do you hate seeing people doing it just to show off?
I don't care.

Regular kisses are cute. Others I view as unattractive, but no big deal.

If I were to find that I hate seeing people kiss, I might ask myself if there's anything I'm lacking in my life, since the problem would probably be more with me than with the people kissing.

For me it seems to boil down to a issue of personal space, and what might be considered reasonable in different public areas.

Proximity being key, i think most will be ok with 2 people kissing say on a spacious beach, where they’re a good 200 meters away from you, but less keen to tolerate it happening right next to you on a crowded train.

As with most things, respect and empathy for the people around you sharing the space you are in should give some intuition as to the acceptability of your actions.

To make it clear, i don’t have any objective problem with kissing, for that matter nor do i for someone who decides to streak completely naked, I’m not offended by any of these things in principle, what does get to me is an invasion of space, as it seems like an advance, and unjust. I’m sure there’s probably some good evolutionary reasons why I, and most prob other people are like that.

Normally I am not bothered in the slightest, the one and only time I thought "Give it a rest" was while waiting to board a plane in freezing weather and the young couple in front decided to stop for a good ol kiss while the rest of us behind them were freezing our bits off.

I think it's very sad that showing affection towards another could be frowned upon. And I don't know why I should be ashamed to show affection towards my girlfriend in public. Really it's pretty bad when our society finds it appropriate to show to two men fighting each other in the name of sport, but two people showing affection towards eachother is simply unthinkable when it goes beyond hand holding. But even that is inappropriate in many places.

I believe I am very mature. Or at least mature enough to be a grown up when I see someone kissing in public. Its not like I am a 5 year old seeing someone kiss and try to warn them of cooties.

I draw a line at seeing people having sex in public and happening like right next to me on the train. Thats nasty and luckily I haven't had the occasion to witness such. Though I will say, years ago a few friends and I would have fun when finding people sexing in public. Pranks are easier when your vulnerable like that lol

I have no problem with kissing in public, although generally it probably depends on who they're kissing, where they're kissing, and what they're kissing, :D

KIssing is more then something you do. Its a sport, so why not show off? ;) A sport I happen to be very good at

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I'm fine with it and get very annoyed at prudes who stick their noses in the air because someone's getting some and they aren't.

Don't assume "they're not getting any." Maybe they just don't like to see other people sticking their tongues down each others' throat or groping all over each other in public.

Like I said, I don't mind people kissing casually in public but sometimes people could rein it in a little when it comes to expressing unbridled passion in public.

When I see an excess of passion in public I instinctively turn away, as though I accidentally caught a glimpse through a bedroom window.

Sure they could. But lets be honest, when it comes to things that are annoying, isn't PDA one of the most benign of them all? I can think of hundreds of annoying things that people do in public all the time that are way worse. Talking on a cell phone in a restaurant. Picking their nose. Carrying a dog around in a purse. Taking up an entire isle in Walmart to catch up with whatever friend or relative you happened to bump into. Pretty much everything that happens in a Walmart. etc. etc.

I was sitting on a city bus one day and two people were kissing right in front of me making all sorts of noise. It was really passionate and it annoyed the heck out of me. It wasn't because I "wasn't getting any at home", and maybe it is benign and harmless, but it is also kind of thoughtless. Casual kissing doesn't bother me, casual hugging and kissing doesn't bother me, but passionate tongue kissing is for private. If I am a prude for thinking so, then so be it.

I don´t make out much with my gf in public, but I can´t help to grab her hand and kiss it a lot... and kiss her shoulder.... and cheeck... and grab cheeck (talking about face chick btw :p) and hug... and take her hand wrists and make them move like crazy while saying in baby voice "look look! My gf is dancing! oooh sexy dancing she is!"

I am a grown up I swear

edit: On further elaboration:

I believe true affection is holy, and even if it displeases more than one stranger, the appreciation of your loved one and the feelings you share with her/him are sacred enough for other people to just bear a little annoyance in their day.

On behalf of every time you been awkward cause of somebody kissing with affection (even if passionately:D) I gotta something to tell you:

It was worth it

Well, yes, but that doesn't excuse making out in public.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to holding hands, hugging, quick kisses, walking with arms around each other, snuggling, etc. I'm talking about flat out tongue down the throat kissing in public.

I don't see that often, but when I do, it's usually two people who, frankly, look pretty nasty anyway. That makes it worse! :p

That's nice.

My husband and I have a very passionate relationship. We are also both very affectionate and demonstrative people. Also, since his job requires lots of travel, we've had more than our fair share of airport goodbyes and welcomes - when he walks thru that terminal door after being in Africa for a month, I do plenty of grinning, running toward him, and throwing myself into his arms.

However, I think most people would agree that at some point, kissing moves from an affectionate gesture to sexual foreplay. That's the sort of kissing that I think should be private, and should not be inflicted on the general public.

If people want to watch strangers make out in public, they can watch porn - when THEY want to watch it.

where I'm living this kind of behaviour is virtually banned - don't think I've seen a public kiss for more than 5 years now - great!

As long as it isn't too in my face or going too far. Mostly I find myself irritated by how cheesy some of those couples get, which hasn't really got anything to do with kissing.
