He's got a new show called The Problem with John Stewart. Its an intriguing title since nobody knows what made him decide to leave the Daily Show.

The first episode is about US veterans trying to get medical care. Its a hard sell, because Stewart is using his star power to get people to watch basically a documentary about a problem that has had a learned helplessness grow up around it. Its been so bad for so long that its come to the point where people just don't want to think about it, but John does and throws his first episode at it, too.

So the show starts out with a think tank sitting at a lovely wooden table and playing tiddly winks and talking about the the problem with War. This then shifts to various interviews and even a hardball-like interview with the Secretary of the Interior. The secretary submits to this cross examination and admits how frustrating it is to get the VA to do anything, and John sort of grills him. Its entertaining. You walk away thinking "Hmm maybe something can be done about this?"

One of the reasons he stepped away was that he was investing a lot of time into medical access issues with specific groups (first responders following 9/11 for example).

Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it...

He had some success in this area in helping get some legislative changes. This almost feels like the next step in pursuing what he's passionate about now?

There are some fantastic people, and I've known some. I'm trying to find a word to describe John Stewart. Sane? Maybe sane is the world.
