Israel-Gaza : Finance Minister Smotrich on Gaza and the West Bank

From The Times of Israel:

Here are some excerpts ...
  • Under pressure from Smotrich, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday canceled a scheduled war cabinet debate on shaping post-war Gaza, and said he would hold the discussion instead in the larger security cabinet. Smotrich is not a member of the tight-knit war cabinet, but he and fellow far-right leader Itamar Ben Gvir, minister of national security, do sit in the security cabinet.
  • “We want to encourage willful emigration, and we need to find countries willing to take them in,” he said.
  • He also told Army Radio: “I don’t think there’s anyone in Israel who doesn’t want to see Jewish settlements everywhere.”
  • “Not even a shekel will be transferred to Gaza,” he said. “Gazans are not innocent. I was against fuel [entering] and I still am. Fuel is power for terrorism and the tunnels. It is happening and it is bad — but I alone am not in charge of this government.”
  • “In the game of delegitimization… the Palestinian Authority is a burden and Hamas is an asset.”
One can only hope and pray that the Netanyahu coalition is repudiated and eradicated by the electorate.

"Willful emigration" against the backdrop of bombardment, destruction, and widespread death and injury.

This is called ethnic cleansing.
Israel behaves with some remarkable similarity to
Putin's regime, ie, violent conquest by killing or
expelling the vermin infesting their land.
The difference: Israel has a much better PR machine.

Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s finance minister, says Gaza’s Palestinian population should be encouraged to emigrate.

Yes. One of the characteristics that Smotrich shares with Trump is transparency. The Wikipedia entry notes:
Smotrich's extremist politics and often racist and homophobic statements have led to several controversies.[4] He is a supporter of expanding Israeli settlements in the West Bank, opposes Palestinian statehood, and denies the existence of the Palestinian people.[4]

Once again, yes. And for those in doubt:

The “voluntary” resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza is slowly becoming a key official policy of the government, with a senior official saying that Israel has held talks with several countries for their potential absorption.
Zman Israel, The Times of Israel’s Hebrew sister site, has learned that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition is conducting secret contacts for accepting thousands of immigrants from Gaza with Congo, in addition to other nations.

which notes Netanyahu moaning:

“Our problem is [finding] countries that are willing to absorb Gazans, and we are working on it, ...”

At least the article has the dood taste to put "voluntary" in quotes.

From The Times of Israel:

According to the reports, Ben Gvir and Smotrich accused Halevi of sticking to a failed conception regarding Israel’s dealings with the Palestinians exposed by the attacks. The criticism echoed swipes from the revanchist right against “day-after” plans in Gaza that give the Palestinians partial control of affairs in the Strip.

As is true here in the U.S., Israel's next election will be critical. It will be interesting to see how Muslims and the left participate in each.

More recently ...
From the latter:

Netanyahu said Saturday that the agenda advanced at the conference does not represent his government’s policy, but the decision by 11 ministers and 15 coalition lawmakers to attend the gathering has raised eyebrows both in Israel and around the world.
Should this wet dream of Israel's far-right confab become government policy, we are indeed talking about genocide.

What makes the apologetic completely blind to what the actually issues are?

Guilt?
Guilt is what they avoid feeling because hatred
& vengeance make genocide righteous.
And taking coveted land is icing on the cake
that reinforces their beliefs & feelings.
