Methodism came from anglican church but is now considered protestant? if so why not anglican?

"
Methodism, or the Methodist movement, [nb 1] is a group of historically related denominations of Protestant Christianity which derive their inspiration from the life and teachings of John Wesley. George Whitefield and John's brother Charles Wesley were also significant leaders in the movement.

A covernant was signed between the Methodist church and the church of England in 2003 with the aim of greater communion .
It is not unusual to find cleargy from each church preaching in the other.. many people from each church do attend the other from time to time, purely through choice or the context of "Churches Together"
I have been told but would need it confirmed by a methodist here, that Methodists in the UK are now increasingly following the CofE tradition of combining the Eucharist in to the main sunday service.

Yes Methodism is a sort of protestant as you can say that Anglican is as well. But Methodism came out of the anglican church and Wesley died seeing himself as an anglican. So what differs the two? Beside the thing of responding to the english crown.
