In his book "The New Science of the Enchanted Universe: and anthropology of most of humanity" Marshall Sahlins presents the view of indigenous societies seeing their gods and other metapersons (all other numinous beings) as immanent in their world. This places the gods and goddesses within the natural world and not supernatural. They are a part of the natural world and very real and present in the phenomenal world. He compares multiple cultures from the Inuit, multiple cultures from Africa, Australia, southeast Asia, New Guinea and even to ancient Mesopotamia. Does the Norse mythology including the creation myth suggest this is also true for the Norse pre-Christian religion?
