I'm very very ignorant about Islam

Hey, thanks for asking.
Islam is based upon 5 pillars or foundations. If you understand the importance of a pillar in a building, you know that this is what holds the building up. These 5 pillars are what holds us up.
1. To establish that there is only one God and that Muhammad is His messenger.
2. To establish prayer or devotion to God 5 times during your day.
3. To pay zakat or alms to the poor. interestinly enough zakat means purity.
4. To fast during the month of Ramadan
5. To make pilgrimage to the holy city of mecca if u are able.
This is islam at it's simplest. I can go deeper at your request

Islam comes from the word Salam which means peace. And Islam means submission, i.e. the total submission to our Creator.
We Muslims do believe that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammed is the Messenger of Allah. We do believe in all Prophets of Allah, Abraham, Jesus, Moses, David, Jacob, Noah, Isaac, Joseph, Ishamael.... we do believe in the Holy Books of God, we do believe in Angels and we do believe that there is a day of resurrection where we will be judged by the Al-Mighty God!

The first and most important thing in Islam is that Allah is the creator of all the provider to all the carer for all and the judge of all , those are essentials and then there is the higher meaning of being the only one worthy of worship for those and all the other qualities he has .thus we should not only worship him but also ask non but him to provide and believe in non but him to be the provider , ppl like Job owners for example are only means in this world that we have to deal with in the best way Islam taught us to but never believe that they as humans can provide or prevent from us , the same goes for everything else like illness for example yes we go to the doctor and yes we take medicines but those are just the means by which Allah can heal us or not for he does not need medicines to heal us we can heal without them and we can take them and never heal so it is him who heals not the doctor or the medicines and thus we should never believe in that the doctor or the medicine will heal but only in Allah .
These were two examples of the most important belief of Islam the belief in Allah.
