How do you form good habits? Through repetition. No matter what your "knowledge" is, you can not become a better person unless you put effort into it.

Repetition is a major component of cognitive therapy as well.

Repetition can help one to develop, say, an attitude of compassion for others. A study employing monks revealed that repeated compassion-meditation not only helped them develop an attitude of compassion it changed their brain structure.

Where attitudes and the like are concerned, it seems it's one thing to “know”, and another to “incorporate.”
