Wow - I'm related to all these prophets:

Brigham Young, Ezra Taft Benson, George Albert Smith, Gordon B Hinckley, Harold B Lee, Heber J Grant, Howard W Hunter, Joseph Smith, Joseph F Smith, Joseph Fielding Smith, Lorenzo Snow, Spencer Kimball, and Wilford Woodruff. I'm also related to 9 out of 12 of the current Apostles and to Martin Harris and Oliver Cowdery.

I'm also related to 21 presidents and 15 signers of the Declaration of Independence. I stopped counting the European Royalty at 100 and I was probably half way done.

My mom will be excited to hear we're related to Lewis and Clark. She's obsessed with them.

I don't think that Squirt is linked to us. Here is our common relative:

I think I've got this down:

To say that you and someone else are 'n'th cousins means that the one of you that is closest to your common ancestor is n+1 generations away from said ancestor. The # removed is how many more generations the other is from the same ancestor.

As an example - Your Mom (Call her 'A') and her Brother (Call him 'B') both have children. A's child and B's child are 1st cousins, because they are both 2 generations away from their common ancestors (A and B's parents). However, A's grandchildren will be 1st cousins once removed from B's children.

-- C -------- D ------- E --------- F --
G -- H --- I -- J --- K -- L --- M -- N

That's my simple pedigree - I hope you can follow it.

C and E are 1st cousins because they are both 2 generations removed from X.
G and E are 1st cousins once removed because E is 2 generations removed from X and G is 1 more generation removed than E is.
G and K are 2nd cousins because they are both 3 generations removed from X.

I hope this helps.

Edited to add: the pedigree didn't look right at first, maybe this is spaced better.

Holy Cow! I bow in awe! :bow: The line I used (just one) goes back to about 1400, maybe even earlier. But when I tried entering the other AFNs I found, it told me there wasn't enough information in their database to be useful. So, what was your closest relation?

My great-grandpa's brother, Royden G. Derrick, was a Seventy. He's on the list and is probably my closest relation there.

SoyLeche, are you able to delete member reports ??? If so can you delete FFH and leave the other two that say FFH FF and FFH MF.
