Farewell Ramadhan: Keep Learned Lessons Fresh in Hearts and in Practices

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
Peace be on all.
[62:10] O ye who believe! when the call is made for Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off all business. That is better for you, if you only knew.

[62:11] And when the Prayer is finished, then disperse in the land and seek of Allah’s grace, and remember Allah much, that you may prosper.

[62:12] But when they see some merchandise or some amusement, they break up for it, and leave thee standing. Say, ‘That which is with Allah is better than amusement and merchandise, and Allah is the Best Provider.’

Along with the directive of obligatory Fasting in Ramadhan, Allah the Exalted has said these are ‘aiyamam madodat’ ….fixed few day. Many people may have thought when Ramadhan began, how to go through 30 Fastings in long days of summer. But as Allah the Exalted said that these are few fixed day, time passed and not felt. It is the reality when Ramadhan comes, it is felt in the start it will be long, but when days begin to pass, they are not felt.

Last few Fasts of Ramadhan are left now. We should make effort to clear our any weakness left, pray to Allah the Exalted that May He cover us, have mercy on us, and not deprive us of blessings of Ramadhan.

The Last Friday / Jumua of Ramadhan

It is commonly termed as Jumua-tul-wida (Friday of farewell). There is wide spread misunderstanding that by offering this Jumua, all missed worships of whole years are compensated.... Ahmadi, true believers consider such thought improper. It is great benevolence of Allah the Exalted that He enabled us to accept His envoy -- the true servant of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) -- who cleansed us from such these wrong concepts, truly guided us, and informed us about real teaching of Islam, and showed us the paths to get nearness of Allah the Exalted.

Once he -- The Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) -- was asked about four Rakat Salaat custom i.e. “qadha e umri” in (some non Ahmadis) to make up for missed Salaat-s of past. Is it allowed?.......He (a.s.) replied it is useless thing. A person does not offer Salaat whole year thinking he would offer it on the day of “qadha e umri” he is sinner. The one who repents with regret, and offers it with intention that he would not quit Salaat in future, there is no harm in it.

He (a.s.) said, In this matter he gives answer which Hazrat Ali (r.a.) gave. Once a person was offering Salaat out of prescribed time. At someone’s complaint, Hazrat Ali (r.a.) – the Khalifah of time --said he was afraid of the verses to stop the person:
[96:10] Hast thou seen him who forbids
[96:11] A servant of Ours when he prays?

So repentance and resolution is needed for future correction i.e. he would be regular in future Salaat offering. If intention is not for reform, then such person sins. Thus there is no concept of traditional “qadha e umri” in Ahmadiyya Jama'at. We believe in Imam of age with condition to avoid innovations, we would give preference to deen over world. With such pledge of preference, why discarding Salaats and Jumua?

For Ahmadis, the concept of Jumua tul wida is that we are saying farewell to this Jumua with sad heart. We are saying farewell to this blessed month as we gathered on this Friday, we pray to Allah the Exalted that the days and Fridays we lived through in Ramadhan, the blessings we obtained, we shall be steadfast on them and would welcome next Ramadhan.

Permanently left beloveds are remembered always, their virtues are made continue. Those who leave temporarily to cities or countries, they are not forgotten at all. Through modern means, beloveds are seen and heard (phone, fax, skype etc).......Thus a beloved is not said goodbye that now we shall forget you for a year or two. Even it is not done in earthly relations.

The Being Who is the most Beloved, Who is Lord of all worlds / peoples, Who raises us, Who grants us everything, Who is the Gracious the Merciful, Who says to have perfectly believe Me, Who says not to break connection of love and nearness with Me, Who says to accept My sayings as I love you more than all lovers, and Have right to be loved, Who says Keep My remembrances alive --- Can we say to Him O Allah, very kind of You that You let us pass through fixed few days of Your remembrances, worships and Fastings, now we have break, matter ends, Who is Lord, Who is Allah? We say You goodbye from this Friday for one year, when next Ramadhan will come after one year we shall try to remember You again, and try to somewhat pay Your right provided we shall have health and life. If we could not offer any virtue and worship in that Ramadhan, there will be a Jumua tul Wida at the end of that Ramadhan, we shall pay Your right by gathering on that day; we shall repay for Your Lordship and Benevolences.

People do have above thoughts but do not say these with tongues but are these are manifested through practices. The increased attendance on Jumua shows it all.

If such state exists it is ignorance and even it will not be worthy to be called lowest knowledge of deen and lowest belief in Allah the Exalted.

A true believer cannot have such thought. He is very high above these things. He continues virtues told by Allah the Exalted, he is filled with the passions of gratefulness for Allah the Exalted, he passes through Ramadhan to get pleasure of Allah the Exalted. When he says farewell to Ramadhan while obeying directives of Allah the Exalted, he has very sad heart thinking we are leaving Ramadhan but we shall always keep remembrance of these days in hearts. In Ramadhan, the lovely and virtuous things we learnt, we shall regurgitate them. In Ramadhan, the attention for worships is gained, we shall always keep it alive. Never our steps would stop in finding Your nearness. We saw strange scenes of Your love. When we try to walk towards You, You according to Your promises come to us running. So how it is possible that we keep remembrances of our worldly relations fresh, but forget the remembrance of the One Who loves the most and forget His benevolences?

The ways Allah sends favours are amazing. How great is this favour of His that after this farewell -- to keep remembrances fresh, to save them from getting forgotten, to regurgitate lovely remembrances -- the event is again arranged after seven days, through which we passed on Jumua tul wida [i.e. Friday comes again in 7 days]. There is one year till next Ramadhan. Allah the Exalted did not deprive us off to show His love and to grant His favours. After every seven days, Friday is placed so that we get same blessings which are obtained on Jumua tul wida.

Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that a time comes during Jumua, when a Muslim is offering Salaat and the prayer he does, is accepted but this duration is very short.

This duration is same in common Jumua-s / Fridays as in last Jumua of Ramadhan.

So after the Jumua tul wida, we are not departing from durations of nearness of Allah the Exalted, but we shall get this time after seven days again. [Aameen]
