apophenia

... are two wonderful words in William Gibson's 2010 novel 'Zero History'.
apophenia is another word for which I am indebted to Mr Gibson. these words are in his most recent trilogy, 'Pattern Recognition', 'Spook Country' and 'Zero History' which, as the Herald review on the back cover says, "explore the everyday weirdness of the twenty-first century world".
without apophenia, echolalia and coprophagia it could take pages to describe what I see as humanity's most distinctive features.
and all three show up as spelling errors in this editor !
