I couldn't remember the name, but I thought about that story recently for some reason....I'd definitely try it. After reading My Side of the Mountain as a kid I've always wanted to try acorn pancakes.

My mother tasted the inside of an acorn once. She said it was bitter.
I don't see any problem with eating acorns. I eat hazelnuts and walnuts, so why not?
But acorns might be the last draw for the squirrels.
