Do Muslims believe Mary, the mother of Jesus was the eternal virgin?

YoursTrue

Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)
Muslims believe in the virgin birth to one of the most pious women. We believe that she is the mother of Jesus who was miraculously born. We believe that God chose her above all women to do this. We believe she is but a mother, not a mother of god or anything like that. We believe that she was a very pious woman.

“O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah and His Word, (‘Be!’ - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (Rooh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: ‘Three (trinity)!’ Cease! (it is) better for you. For Allah is (the only) One Ilaah (God), Glory be to Him (Far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs”

an-Nisa’ 4:171
Mary was certainly a woman of value before God, she gave birth to the SON of God, not God. Luke 1:36 - The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God."

To be fair, they believe everyone's religion was originally Islam. They don't like the word "convert" for that reason. They call them "reverts".

In Islam, we believe everyone is born to believe in their Creator. It is those they are with example family, relatives, who they brought up with that make them. Here are a few verses from the Quran that Allah talks about Ibraheem alayhi salam.(means and on him peace)

Surely, Ibrahim (Abraham) was a nation, (i.e. a leader) devout to Allah, unswervingly upright, and he was not of the associators, (Those who associate others with Allah) AnNahl:16:120

  • Allah sent His Prophet Ibraaheem pbuh and ordained among his offspring Prophethood and the Book (al-‘Ankaboot 29:27)
  • “And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibraaheem (Abraham). Verily, he was a man of truth, a Prophet [Maryam 19:41)
  • “And We bestowed upon him Ishaaq (Isaac) and Ya‘qoob (Jacob), each of them We guided, and before him, We guided Nooh (Noah), and among his progeny Dawood (David), Sulaymaan (Solomon), Ayyoob (Job), Yoosuf (Joseph), Moosa (Moses), and Haaroon (Aaron). Thus do We reward Al-Muhsinoon (the good-doers).And Zakariyya (Zachariya), and Yahya (John) and ‘Eesa (Jesus) and Ilyaas (Elias), each one of them was of the righteous. And Isma‘eel (Ishmael) and Al-Yasaa‘ (Elisha), and Yoonus (Jonah) and Loot (Lot), and each one of them We preferred above the ‘Aalameen [mankind and jinn (of their times)]” al-An’aam 6:84-86
  • “And (remember) Ibraaheem (Abraham) when he said to his people: ‘Worship Allah (Alone), and fear Him: that is better for you if you did but know. You worship besides Allah only idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision, so seek your provision from Allah (Alone), and worship Him (Alone), and be grateful to Him. To Him (Alone) you will be brought back’”[al-‘Ankaboot 29:16-17]
There are more verses but these are some of the ones that show his monotheistic belief.

That depends what you mean.
From the point of view of belief in the One G-d of Abraham,
and submitting to His will .. then yes.

As regards to facing Macca in prayer, or going on pilgrimage, then no.

Yeah, I already know that's what Islam believes.

Oh, I see. Thanks. So can you briefly sum up the history of Jesus if there is one in the Qu'ran?
It's primarily found in Shiite Muslims who venerate Fatima almost as if she were the Virgin Mary.

But not all Shiites believe that tradition or practice it either.

According to the Bible, Mary was obviously held in high esteem by God. But not to be venerated, worshipped, or however a person wants to call it. Plus there are real time myths about her ascending to heaven, staying a virgin throughout her life, none of that backed up from scripture. Although some will tell you it is. :) But they misinterpret.
Plus -- Amazing Grace -- how sweet the sound -- God saved a wretch like meeee....

Nothing in Scripture says that Scripture must back up a belief or practice for it to be true.

The Bible actually says the opposite, and says "if they do not listen to the Church, let them be to you as a Pagan or tax collector".

In fact, early Christians were not Bible Christians, because the Catholic Church put the first Christian Bible together at councils of Rome, Carthage, and Hippo.

The first Christians were largely illiterate, didn't know which writings were Scripture of the New Testament writings, and Jesus never left the early Church with a Bible, so Bible Christians actually were not even a practical thing before the printing press, but Bible Christians couldn't exist for the first few centuries of the Church, because there was no Christian Bible yet.

Not all will receive the gift of God. (Have a nice day, evening)
