Why do demons fear the cross in exorcisms. If the cross is pagan?:):confused:Wouldn't that make them laugh?
Cross - Of Pagan Origin
Once the honoring of the cross began it went to such extremes that the pagans accused professed Christians of being idolaters. “It is plain that the great mass of Christians,” says a religious authority, “attached a magical value to this sign. At all events they used it as a form of exorcism and a means of warding off unclean spirits.” “Soon the cross came to work miracles of itself. People went to the length of marking cattle to protect them from disease.” - Dictionary of the Bible, Hastings, Vol. 3,, p. 328

Have you ever noticed that some persons "under demonic attack" wore a cross, or had one in their house. Maybe it needs to be a special cross... and held by a practicing clergyman. ;)

Nah. Just jiving. :D
Why Spiritistic Religion Appeals to Many
In Africa a magical healer accomplishes his work through fetishes or amulets. Objects dedicated to Satan, such as stones, are used in some areas. Now, if this principle of magic is adopted by “Christian” churches, can we say that the power behind it now comes from God and not from Satan?

Actually, various charms are used even in some churches of Christendom in connection with healing. Says Hastings’ Encyclopædia of Religion and Ethics: “In Western Christianity the Apostles’ Creed holds a position parallel with the Lord’s Prayer. It is used for healing, especially in exorcism.” Prayers, religious formulas and Bible texts have been converted into magic spells, exactly as is done in pagan religions. Christian Science healers use Bible texts in conjunction with autosuggestion. The sign of the cross still is superstitiously regarded by many as the “surest defense against demons, and the remedy for all diseases,” says Dr. Kurt Koch in his book Demonology Past and Present.

The published JW theology on exorcism i believe is summarised below and i agree wholeheartedly with this summary (even though I am not a JW)

Of vital importance is faith in Jehovah and earnest prayer to him. If under demon assault, it is essential to pray to Jehovah God through Jesus Christ, using the Divine Name. “The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection.” (Prov. 18:10; Phil. 4:6, 7) Appointed overseers in the Christian congregation gladly have assisted those desiring to serve God but who were being troubled by the demons. Yet, the mental attitude of the individual himself is of importance. It is vital to resist wicked spirit forces, and this is effective. “Oppose the Devil,” wrote the disciple James, “and he will flee from you.”—Jas. 4:7.

Modern-day exorcism with its ritual is not the answer to demon possession. Rather, Jehovah God has lovingly provided protection from wicked spirit forces, and prudent persons will avail themselves of it. No, Christians should not practice exorcism rites. But they should keep their minds and hearts fixed on the worship and service of their heavenly Father. ( https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/101977370 )
