Did john really make a public statement like

salome shoudnt have married king herod

I think jesus spread that slander and lied.

it got john killed, then jesus went around pretending to be John the baptist

who is this man with all this knowledge
some say elijah, some say john the baptist.

theres another jesus quote where he says something to the effect of
for those willing to accept it, john the baptist was the elijah who was to come

even though not scripturally correct, it seems the gospel aged hebrew judaic culture
developed a messianic effect, and they were prophesying elijah as a messiah

This is "so far out there" that I am left quite speechless.

I'll just leave it at that and move to another thread.
