Dialectical and Historical Materialism (Atheists Only)

This is not really intended as a topic of discussion but simply to share some resources for atheists who may be interested and want to read primary sources.

If you are looking for an introduction to Marxist materialism as a theory of nature and society, the link below is Stalins "dialectical and historical materialism". Stalins writing style is highly readable and the text below became the definitive account of Marxist orthodoxy since the 1930's in the eastern bloc.

If you are looking for much more thorough philosophical accounts, lenin's "materialism and empirio-criticism" was the standard text used in the USSR, particularly in relation to controversies in the understanding of Soviet physics and cosmology. (Lenin's style is deliberately aggressive for propaganda purposes so it may be less engaging but still useful if you have a specific philosophical question in mind).

For something more specific on Lenin's attitude on religion as a way to clarify the philosophical relationship between materialism and Marxist varieties of atheism, the link below will be useful;

Mao Tse Tung also did some work on philosophy but my understanding is that it is quite crude but appears well written. Despite not being familiar with them, I have included them none the less.

On practice;

On contradiction;

I realise it is largely a philosophical and historical curiosity nowadays but someone may find it useful or interesting to understanding how Communists approached philosophy, materialism and atheism given that it is no longer widely available or understood (in the West anyway). Make of it what you will and I hope it you find it interesting. enjoy. :)
