Were not animals, or at least we should not act like animals
We obviously are animals, from a rather definite descent via DNA and other obvious features, and being so, we still retain much of our origins from the past - hence why we often seem to behave 'like animals'. It might be better if we didn't - giving more thought to any behaviour - but unfortunately some are not so controlled by their thinking than by their feelings - just something we have to accept as the spectrum of human nature, abilities, and human variability. Blame our genes for a lot of this - but also how we develop (our environment).
I think religions have little input in this area.
