Political affiliations set aside for the moment.......

200 years have passed since the Treaty of New Echota.

The first representative of the Cherokee Nation appointed as a delegate in the House of Representatives.

Cherokee Nation Names First Delegate To Congress

Definitely a historical milestone , the awaited fulfillment of a much long-overdue promise, and wishing for a prosperous and beneficial term in office!

I hope representatives of more Nations come on board in the US government. It is a first step in healing a large hole made in our country by leaving out a significant voice, it's indigenous citizens.

Maybe someday we'll even have a Native American President. I hope I live long enough to see that happen, but for now this is a very good thing , and I will be very interested and seeing what she's going to do.
