Christian women, would it help men to be less lustful if women's clothing didn't show so much of...

It is possible to wear something comfortable that moves with you without wearing clothing that displays every nook and cranny.

Women's clothing, and girls, has gotten truly disgraceful.
I agree, but it depends on your work out. If you are truly doing yoga moves, clothing that is too loose will impede your progress. Men run with their shirts off in my neighborhood...should I be offended? lol

It seems ironic to me that so many "civilized" folks apparently find the notion that nudity doesn't automatically prompt lust in human males to be astounding.
I just thought of something more, lust comes more from the expectation and the things we fantasize about and we don't have. To cover up a woman might actually intrigue the man's lust more because he will fantasize more about how she looks under.

There are guys who are turned on by costumes and dress-ups and fantasizing about french maids and so forth, so it's not really about what is shown, but what is thought of.

Although, even then it would have to be some pretty pathetic men.

I largely agreed with your post except for the above quote from it. I used to know a number of foreign students at uni who were from the middle east. This was before the internet (and internet porn), and several of them told me that they'd had appreciable difficulty adjusting to the ways women dressed here. These were bright, kind, decent young men -- anything but pathetic -- but they just hadn't developed the ability to look at bare arms and legs without feelings of lust, or without getting erections. Here, that's something males learn in middle school, because they must, but those poor guys were in their late teens, and had not learned how to manage their feelings as yet.

Adam and Eve started out naked without this problem. It was only after they started wearing clothes that they had problems. Go figure.
Exactly.

It's a mental stigma that's causing it rather than what a person can see. It's all in the mind.

And we haven't talked about homosexuals either. Shouldn't guys start covering up too to help the gay guy next door stop drooling?

1. That is more reason to not change the way women dress.

2. Even if you get lustfull feelings and an erection doesn't mean you shouldn't be more than able to control yourself.

I don't think it is at all fair to expect women to change when men are 100% at fault. If a man can't control himself he should seek counseling and work on his own issues...

You've made some assumptions here when may I remind you that I was asking Christian women...gonna go ahead and put you on ignore.

Mark 9:42-50
42 “But whoever causes the downfall of one of these little ones who believe in Me—it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. 43 And if your hand causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go to hell—the unquenchable fire, [44 where

Their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched.]

45 And if your foot causes your downfall, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell— [the unquenchable fire, 46 where

Their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched.]

47 And if your eye causes your downfall, gouge it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where

Their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched.

49 For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good, but if the salt should lose its flavor, how can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves and be at peace with one another.”
What does this mean?
"if your eye causes your downfall, gouge it out.
It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where

Their worm does not die,

I must admit, I view Christianity through a Buddhist lens. (I still like Jesus.) It's plain to me that if you become lustful due to things you see, then you make yourself become disenchanted by what you see and extinguish the fiery lust that kindles hellfire in your mind. Buddha taught this in his Fire Sermon, using the same metaphors that Jesus did. (Although less poetically than Jesus did.)

Just for the sake of balance, I'm going to argue the other side just a little bit.

I do find it annoying when you go into a store and some young 18 yo walks by in a miniskirt and a tight shirt without bra walks by and you can't but look at her and what she's showing and she returns an evil look that it's not my business to look. Well... if you don't want people to stare, don't show your merchandize. In other words, if a woman decides to show off her "talents", then she has no right to complain when people (guys) look at her. Just saying.

Well put.

I don't understand such fetishes. They simply make no sense to me. Why dress a woman in a maid's costume when there are perfectly good donkeys you can dress in a maid's costume?

When you've come to my age, you have to do whatever it takes... and who said anything about the women being dressed up as a maid...

LOL!!!

In the future, if you prefer to only have Christians answer (mainly)...then, post your topics in the Christian DIR section. That section is for Christians to discuss things, but it's open for all to come in and post, as long as they are respectful and not debating. Just some advice :D

I've seen that sort of thing and it's always perplexed me why someone who was dressed sexy would take offense at being looked at. I don't mean rudely starred at, but just looked at. I usually assume their day started well, but then turned bad on them, or something along those lines.

Why so many members getting all red faced and blood pressure up and putting
fellow members on "ignore"?
It's OPINIONS and everyone has one and it's also
WORDS ON A SCREEN that can''t harm anything but a sensitive ego.
