Christian/Jewish: Suicide and the Bible

Hello everyone :)

I have heard several times in quite random coversations that suicide is against God, for it says so in the Bible. I have kept mine mouth shut and silently contemplated it. Since the only True death is Spiritual, can one actually do this? I'm not talking a physical death, but a Spiritual one.
Also, I am curious as to where in the bible exactly that it specifies that it is indeed a sin, if anyone can please point it out to me.
I do not intend to Judge, for Judgement is left up only to God, so please tell me your views on this subject.
Thank you very much.

Hiya Greyson,

Hope this will shed some light on the topic:

2280 Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of.

2281 Suicide contradicts the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life. It is gravely contrary to the just love of self. It likewise offends love of neighbor because it unjustly breaks the ties of solidarity with family, nation, and other human societies to which we continue to have obligations. Suicide is contrary to love for the living God.

2282 If suicide is committed with the intention of setting an example, especially to the young, it also takes on the gravity of scandal. Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to the moral law.

Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide. 2283 We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives.

2325 Suicide is seriously contrary to justice, hope, and charity. It is forbidden by the fifth commandment.

SOGFPP,
Thank you very much for the reply. I can't seem to click on the scriptiral numbers you put in reference, So I went through the Ten Commandmants once more. In different bibles the 5th Commandment talks about graven images, while in others it says to Honour Thy Mother and Father. While in Literal Law It means to Honour your biological Perents ie;you earthly Mother and Father, in Spiritual Law, it means to Honour God=The Father...and your Mother=The Word of God, in which case to do the will of our Father God is first and foremost and makes sense. I however think it might have been the Sixth Commandment, Which is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill.'
Again though, if it is the 6th Commandment, killing oneself Spiritually would prove to be most difficult a task to perform I would imagine. I really appreciate your reply mine friend, thank you again.
God Bless you,
Greyson
