I speak Japanese and can read some too. In my Mormon days I used to come to similar conclusions. For example, the character for “forbidden” was comprised of the characters “to show” and two “trees.” Garden of Eden, right?! Now that I’m removed from the religion, I now see the absurdity of making these connections and find them somewhat offensive to these cultures.
