1997-2022, after 35 years Ash has finally become a Pokémon Master. They will soon air an epilogue series . I haven't watched Pokémon in 20 years.

In the 35 years it took for Ash to become a Pokémon Master, Goku: took down an army, saved the world from King Piccolo, died and came back to life twice, saved the Universe from Frieza, had 2 sons (one which saved the world from Cell), saved the entire Universe from Majin Buu fought for the survival of the Universe as well

In practically every Pokemon movie, Ash faces off some power-hungry individual, organization or Legendary Pokemon bent on destroying or taking over the world, so he's actually saved the world many times. However, the canonicity of the movies with regards to the universe of the series has never been too well-defined.

Pokemon started when I was already too old to appreciate it, so I am going to wait until I enter my second childhood.
