An Election Prayer

An Election Prayer

Our Father in Heaven I acknowledge You as our Lord and Master and bring to You the following requests relative to the 2004 elections.

I pray Lord that President Bush will win by a margin that will prevent confusion.

I pray Lord that the Republican party will win a 2/3 majority in the Senate so that changes to the judicial system can be made to eliminate the atheistic activist judges.

I pray Lord for a revival in America that will result in many people accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

I pray Lord for a revival in America that will cause Christians to examine how they spend their time and money and stop funding Godless activities.

I pray Lord for a revival in America that causes preachers to hold congregations accountable for sinful activities.

I pray Lord for a revival in America that returns America to it's Christian Heritage.

I pray Lord for a revival in America where Christians will retake the educational institutions they founded and make God a part of education.

I pray Lord for a revival in America that results in a Christian controlled news media that would serve God and not Satan.

I pray Lord for Christians to enter into politics so that America will be governed by Christian principles instead of Godless socialism.

These things I ask in the name of Jesus Christ.

Funny stuff... :D

Come to think of it, God is just about the only thing that could get Bush to win by a margin large enough to prevent confusion.

If I saw that prayer as anything other than satire, I might be offended at the implication that only Christians can run a country well.

There are a lot of Americans who do not see America as a "Christian" country, especially since our Constitution expressly forbids the establishment of a state religion. I don't believe that there is anything like the required support to amend the Constitution on this point. Until that amendment is in place, I doubt many of the things listed in your prayer are possible. They are also not desirable, in my view, and in the view of most non-Christian Americans.

Based on what the Founding Fathers believed, it would be easier to make the case that this was a deist country rather than a Christian country. Maybe therefore we should get back to our roots and elect deists.

It sounds to me, Clirus, like you're praying for a theocracy.

Tell my someone besides Christians that could or should run America.

Does faith even matter? If they can manage the economy and foreign relations well enough, I couldn't care less if they worshipped mosquitoes. I might think they were quirky, but I'd rather have quirky and good at managing than a Good Christian that runs the country to hell, gets us up to our ears in war and debt, and takes away rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution.

Yes, there are a lot of Americans who do not see America as a "Christian" country, they are athetists and worship Satan.

Wrong, Clirus. I am a Buddhist, and I do not worship anything, in the Christian sense of the word "worship".

That's funny, since I don't think America is a Christian country and am neither atheist nor worship Satan. Funny how generalizations like that aren't true, isn't it?

Jensa- I agree wholeheartidly!
Wasn't the basic point of America the seperation of church and state?
The entire media be run by Christians! AWWW!!!! I thought Dan Rather was scary enough! If they did they probably would leave out stuff like, you know, latest charges against the church and its pedophile priests. But you know, its better then us satanic heathens running the media.
Tonight I'll make sure to pray to Satan that Bush doesn't get elected.

The basic point of America was to allow freedom of religion, instead of a government religion as existed in Britain where most of the early settlers were from.

The concept of the separation of Church and State was developed by Satan and his followers to try to prevent America from staying a Christian nation.

I was glad to see at least one person admit they prayed to Satan. There are many that are Satan's followers.

Anyone that watches CBS news, reads The New York Times or spends money on any item that is associated with Viacom is a follower of Satan.

Wow Clirus! Would you describe yourself as "slightly to the right" on political and social issues?

Sounds like, in your world, Satan is everywhere. What a strange way to live! Oh well, if it works for you, enjoy!

Have you ever considered, Clirus, that if there is a Satan, then it would be Satan's delight to sow fanaticism?

Oh, I see, so instead of having a government religion in Britian, an American one would be so much better?
Let me guess, you're probably also one of those people who think that "satan" went back in time and created a bunch of other prophets that basically spread the same message, and some of whom were protrayed exactly the same (one example would be Krishna).
CBS and New York Times?? I'm guessing that Bush must be a Satanist also (sorry to you others who also support Bush, but I must make this point).

P.S. Please tell me that clirus was the only one who missed the sarcasm in my reference to going to go and pray to Satan?
