Scotty gave'm the method to make transparent
aluminum in trade for the acrylic. I don't recall
why they wanted acrylic....either for transparency
or its being lighter than steel. The latter would
be very very useful for a spacecraft.
For that patent to transparent aluminum in the 1990's I'd have tossed in 3 whales along with the acrylic.

I actually looked up the manufacturing process. I determined that I would need a very powerful hydraulic press and a high temperature kiln before I could make anything. Also there could be a patent issue.
Being a ceramic, I doubt that actual transparent "aluminum"
(it's only a portion aluminum) would work as a giant "fish" tank.

The company that makes it advertises its hardness, so its very scratch resistant. I think it would make excellent cat cages.
