To my mind there is no debate. Adoption over abortion.Fluffy said:What is better, aborting an unwanted child/foetus (depending on your view) or offering it up for adoption?
This is thread is specifically for debating this aspect of the issue so lets not get into the rest of it.
There is no birth control that is 100% effective- not even sterilization. Mistakes happen. Accidents happen. I think it's disgusting to want the cost of both to be that high, it's not like the situation isn't bad enough for the person or persons who find themselves there. But come on folks, how hard is it to read instructions, swallow a pill, and slip on a condom?
How about we make both choices cost one million dollars? Then, I think people will begin to second-guess whether they should not use birth control...
Okay, okay. The pill, if taken correctly, has a failure rate of 0.3%. The condom, if used carefully, provides complete protection against STD's and pregnancy. And sterilization has a 0.15% failure rate. And, if that doesn't work, let's not forget about emergency contraception.jamaesi said:There is no birth control that is 100% effective- not even sterilization. Mistakes happen. Accidents happen. Praytell, where did you get those numbers from? They're a bit optimistic.Okay, okay. The pill, if taken correctly, has a failure rate of 0.3%. More numbers can be found here.Typical Contraceptive Failure Rates
- Implants and injectables
2-4%- Oral contraceptives
9%- Diaphragm and cervical cap
13%- Male condom
15%- Periodic abstinence
22%- Withdrawal
26%- Spermicides
28%
That's even a majourity.Fifty-three percent of unplanned pregnancies occur in women who are using contraceptives.
Let's also not forget that it's sometimes rather difficult to get a hold of it.And, if that doesn't work, let's not forget about emergency contraception.

My statistics are for the birth control that's used correctly. You'd be shocked to see how much of a leap it is from those who use it correctly, and those who don't.That's even a majourity.
I've got an idea, why don't we just abstain until you are ready to support a kid . There is no for sure method of not having a kid, unless you are abstinate. Is it really all that hard for people to not have sex?skills101 said:But come on folks, how hard is it to read instructions, swallow a pill, and slip on a condom?
WOW! This makes too much sense to be possible. Maybe there's something to what our parents and preachers have been telling this all along.jimbob said:I've got an idea, why don't we just abstain until you are ready to support a kid . I guess people don't really like to go on facing a possibility that has less than a .3 percentege rate.jimbob said:I've got an idea, why don't we just abstain until you are ready to support a kid . There is no for sure method of not having a kid, unless you are abstinate.
