Very cool. He's lucky that guy didn't kill him.

The robber or the old man?

You know crime statistics say that the largest chance of retaliation against a criminal comes from the elderly. So for those considering a life of crime, the elderly make poor targets. They are also the most likely to use deadly force, and the least likely to be prosecuted for the use of deadly force.

'Rear-naked choke', for people like me who aren't familiar with wrestling, brings really awkward images to mind...

And for people that are, it's still just as awkward to watch.

For real. Did you know that the only effective way to escape a rear-naked choke is to get out before the his off arm closes the choke. If you let his second arm close the choke, its pretty much over... quickly.

We teach our guys to go 2-on-1 monkey grip on the arm across the neck, slip their shoulder to mat, and roll out. If the off arm comes in, grab it. Forget everything else, grab that arm and keep it from closing the choke. The indicator that it is coming, is in the arm across the throat. Its going to slide across the neck to get in position.

We actually drill this over and over to get them used to the situation and not panic.
