I've been playing the new open-world Sonic game, Sonic Frontiers, for 3 hours, and here is my hot take on it -
I consider Sonic Frontiers to be an interesting Sonic game that isn't too much like other Sonic games, but still has a touch of Sonic Adventure 1 resemblance, and a dash of the game Pokemon Arceus. I feel that this game does try some new, fresh ideas, but that some other ideas it has, especially regarding gameplay, are actually quite primitive, and take you back to the Playstation 1 days where games were much about collecting, and NPC encounters were about as interesting as staring at a piece of cardboard - meaning, only there to advance the gameplay from point A to point B.
I'm only 3 hours into the game, but so far, this is what I feel, and unless this game picks up soon, I don't expect my perception of this game to get any better. Only the same, or worse.
My score of this game so far: 6.2/10
