    Religious people and due diligence

I'm doing my best! I'm trying to learn, but I come from a line of unreligious people, I grew up in a house where religion was irrelevant and as a consequence never spoken about. I only really learned about the main religions as I got older through the news etc and then self study. My lived...

    Religious people and due diligence

By truth in this I mean: do I accept my religion to be true. I guess so. In my head I can see lots of different bridges (religions) over a ravine and unsure which one is solid and which will collapse. Is it better to examine as best as possible or sit still and be happy in ignorance...

    Religious people and due diligence

I agree with the ego, im uninterested in who has the "best" religion. Im interested in which one could be true, if any. By ignoring that question, we are just hiding from potential truths? In that case, why not develop virtuous traits without religion?

    Religious people and due diligence

I agree, it's a monumental task. But how could someone say with honesty "I am convinced my religion is the correct one" without even knowing other religions arguments? Convincing ones self because they are too lazy to study alternatives when seeking truth is..well..lazy.

    Religious people and due diligence

I have been developing a thought for a while now and can't get to grips with how people come to accept this idea: If something is important in your life (Christianity for example), that affects decisions you make, it is reasonable to want and maybe need it to be true. Many other people claim...

    Study Path Suggestions

Thanks for the replies, they have actually given me a lot to think about. Why am I drawn to the subject now in my life? I don't even "want" to believe in a god, I just find it interesting. I would say I feel like I want to learn "truth", the same as a lot of people. Perhaps a better phrased...

    Study Path Suggestions

I am trying to find my way through learning about religion, philosophy, meaning of life etc and all the questions that have plagued me for years. Does anybody have a good place to start? Any websites or books that I may find helpful? To help, I dont believe in a god as I feel like I need more...

What Is Your Religion or Worldview?

I would class myself as a non resistant non believer. So agnostic atheist? I don't see evidence for a god but cannot claim a god does not exist. I'm on my own journey recently and open to ideas, current delving into philosophy. If something can make me believe in a god, so be it, who knows...

Is it Reasonable to Compare Gods with Bigfoot, Fairies, Unicorns, and Leprechauns?

I think it's reasonable, as the person comparing them is using it as an example of something people have heard about, but have no evidence for. Whether it has form or not is irrelevant surely? If you don't believe in a being, then how others view it manifesting is minor details. I think they are...

    Disbelievers in Christianity Answer Please!

I would not believe as it might not be God. It could be another being or alien. I would remain skeptical unless they stuck around longer and gave me more evidence to consider.
