    EVPs

CircleOne, could you tell us what happened? Was it like someone who had passed away or a poltergeist? Did it speak? I don't know what to make of ghosts, but around here people say they see them in their old houses all the time. Makes you wonder if it is some form of energy attached to old...

    Islamic Dress

Prove it. Just because you prefer to mischaracterize others' motives doesn't make it so, it only makes it your own misinformed opinion. Read the quotes from Muslim women provided and argue with those who made them, not me. There are many others available, all in the same vein. If you wish to...

    Christianity=Violence - Sex.

a misguided subset of fundamentalist Protestants -- sort of like this guy? ...unlike this guy who has a more liberal POV...:D

Why do you believe there is a God?

Your confrontational and disrespectful tone aside, your basic argument that conversion and religious experience is only the result of social conditioning is utter hogwash in the face of Christianity. I'll adddress this from a strictly Christian POV rather than addressing religiosity in general...

    Personal recourse to God

I would say a baseless or shallow 'faith' would surely be discarded at such times of extreme testing; it will be replaced by real faith, or real cynicism. Conversely a close relationship with God will only be strengthened during such times and then extend out into the person's day to day life...

    Religious Dress

I observed a religious dress the other day. At least I think it must have been a religious dress, as it was very holey. Ta-dum-dum. (please don't hit me)

The Life of a Good Samaratin

P.S.: We have had many 'magical coincidences' too after we started this... someone will need some money and we just happen to have gotten a refund check or unexpected cash from somewhere... Whenever this happens, we tell the person it is NEVER a loan. They will always insist they want to pay...

The Life of a Good Samaratin

When confronted with this same question in my own life, I first went to God and repented for not being open enough to others' needs. Then I asked him to provide me with opportunities to help. In response, he not only made me more intuitive and sensitive to others, he opened my eyes to some...

    Islamic Dress

Exactly. Of course there are 'rights', and there are 'preferences'. I never claimed otherwise. Personally I would spend every last penny and die trying but hey, that's just me. I never claimed otherwise. However, since you brought it appears to the rest of the world that the French /...

Is democracy absolutely necessary for better life?

I agree wholeheartedly. ("We hold these truths to be self-evident...") Couldn't disagree more. It's up to the individual to do that in a free society; the government should secure and protect the country from its enemies, and set up a judicial framework for enforcing the basic tenets of...

    Islamic Dress

IMHO, if i travel to a country where (by law) I have to abide by a certain dress code, i have a choice: go there, and abide by the law, or go somewhere else. Without question I would choose the latter. If I choose to live in a country where (by law) children are not allowed to dress the way I...

Is democracy absolutely necessary for better life?

Gosh, talk about in-depth reporting! Paragraph after paragraph this reporter whines about inconveniences encountered in Delhi (shock! surprise! DUH), then praises the nice roads and fast internet connections enjoyed in Beijing. So basically this reluctant tourist regales us with how messy...

What would you do? scenerio 2

Aww, come on. Lighten up why don't you. “It is a curious fact that people are never so trivial as when they take themselves seriously.” Oscar Wilde “Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritation and resentments slip away, and a sunny spirit takes...

Christians only: Why do we need atonement?

I'd rather accept His will and His sacrifice than to be separated from Him forever. One scenario pretty much demands we worship and praise him. It's the one where He has done it all for us. (GRACE) Another pretty much hopes He praises and rewards us for something we do. (WORKS)

is the religion of peace really the religion of war

Hi everybody. I'm sorry for jumping in here without reading through all the the posts, but I just wanted to make one observation about sources. And please everyone put away your weapons, I truly don't want to bash anyone or raise any ire or take sides against someone else's religion. :D...

Hiroshima, Dad, and the hardest post of all

It appears you only read one sentence of my OP. Nice try. Respectfully? Not very. This POV was already addressed at length in my post #7. What you discuss here has been addressed there, as well as in posts #4, #5, and the OP. Monday morning quarterbacking is fine, but in view of the...
