How do I tell my family I want to be Muslim?

As has been pointed out, it is permissible to hide your Islam from your family if telling them would put you in danger or if there's a possibility they might kick you out or disown you, etc. I really cannot imagine what you're going thru, since my family was supportive of my decision to become a...

They consider the Lahore Ahmadiyyas and their founder, Maulana Muhammad Ali, a heretic because of "guilt by association", I assume. After the ideological split that formed the 2 groups (Qadiani and Lahori), people, rather than try to differentiate between the two, said they are both Kafir, even...

Lahore or Qadian? I first converted to Islam through the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement in 1999. I left Islam for a few years in 2007, but recently returned, and I am technically still a member of the Lahore Ahmadiyya, but I usually identify myself as Sunni/Sufi (to lessen the likelihood of being...

So, which sect/denominatios of Islam is the right one?

There was another Hadith that I read recently, in Bukhari, about individual differences in reciting the Qur'an during Salat: I don't rememebr all the details, but the gist was that one man heard another reciting the surah with different intonation than the way Muhammad taught it to him (the...

Started praying again, can't believe how easy it's been.

Congratulations. I too recently returned to Islam (I was a Muslim for 8 years, then became a Christian for a while, but I still kept feeling drawn back to Islam so I came back.

Does Islam have to have a caliph/caliphate?

Yes, they do. That Jordanian pilot was a believer, as were most (if not all) of their other victims

Does Islam have to have a caliph/caliphate?

Yes, they do. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, they violate Qur'an 4:93.

Does Islam have to have a caliph/caliphate?

Agreed. That would include People of the Book. Which makes ISIS look even worse, because they kill Christians and Jews too. Basically, they kill everyone who isn't one of them, and sometimes they kill their own too.

    As-salamu aleikum!

Some Muslims regard Zoroaster as a prophet. In the Qur'an there is an otherwise unknown group which the Qur'an calls "Sabeans". Some Muslim theologians and commentators believe that it might be a reference to the Zoroastrians. If so, then they are considered "People of the Book" .

Did you know this about late Nation of Islam leader Khalid Abdul Muhammad?

The founder of the NOI claimed to be a human incarnation of Allah, and his successor Elijah Muhammad claimed to be his prophet. That alone puts them outside the definition of Islam since Muslim by definition regard Muhammad as the Last prophet.

    As-salamu aleikum!

I don't practice them, but I believe them to be valid. I mainly practice Dhikr and meditation.
