Did Gnostic Christians wore the latin cross?

Not unlikely. Take Valentianism for exemple, which was well around 3rd or 4th century Rome: Valentinianism is a Gnostic movement that was founded by Valentinus in the second century AD. Valentinianism was one of the major Gnostic movements. Its influence was extremely widespread, not just...

*Theists* Classical Theism or Theistic Personalism? And why?

That depends. A transcendent God that is both omniscient and omnipotent *knows* everything. He probably designed the Universe in such a way that life forms (such a human beings) were intended to emmerge eventually in His Creation. Perhaps that is the whole purpose. That is a strong connection...

*Theists* Classical Theism or Theistic Personalism? And why?

Agnostic Theist. I believe in a Supreme Intelligence, God, so I suppose that makes me a Theist. But I don't claim to know anything for certain about the properties and attributes of the Creator, which remains a complete mystery to me, so there's some kind of agnosticism there. (This is also a...

*[I believe] Atheism is an absurd worldview

A lot of atheists are also materialist therefore do not accept a First Cause, afterlife or any transcendant outlook on life I have read A Universe From Nothing by Lawrence Krauss recently and what I get from Krauss' perspective is that we are biological robots living meaningless lives in a...

    No Chess in islam.

I think they see chess as a way for people to develop intellectual skills and critical thinking so ultraconservative religious leaders perceives it as a threat. What if some people start questionning their religion and governement because they see the logical flaws in them?

Does God want everyone to believe in him?

The free-will argument has been developped more extensively by Theist philosophers in the last century. As pertaining to your post: I don't think you can 'know' God even with a revelation and the mistake is to start thinking that it is the ultimate Truth. It's a personal thing. I don't see...

Does God want everyone to believe in him?

The free-will argument usually serves as a good defense against your point. God gave us reason and free will. If He reveals Himself in a direct manner and interfere with our evolution as spiritual entites in human form than that undermines our free will and the whole experience of living.

Difference between Agnostic Theism and Deism

According to Wikipedia: Agnostic Theism is the philosophical view that encompasses both theism and agnosticism. An agnostic theist believes in the existence of at least one deity, but regards the basis of this proposition as unknown or inherently unknowable. It can also mean that there is one...

Difference between Agnostic Theism and Deism

Thanks. Can Agnostic Theism be applied only to the properties of God(s)? For exemple, I do believe in God and I think His existence can be revealed through mystical experiences, revelations, meditation, awakenings ect. but I do not claim to know about the properties of the Divine.

How can there be more than One God?

I usually try to avoid the word 'God' if possible because it has because so enmesched with Abrahamic religions and it's teachings that people don't always understand what I mean. To many people, a concept of 'God' that is not external from the Universe is nonesensical. 'God' is to me the...

How can there be more than One God?

Yet in Hinduism it all comes down to Brahman. The "the unchanging reality amidst and beyond the world" or ''that which cannot exactly be described''. The Gods are manifestations of Brahman. I don't have any difficulty grasping this concept. It makes sense. As for the Arbrahmic religion, it...

How can there be more than One God?

Unless 'God' is the totality of everything and not a specific anthropomorphic entity. Universes, dimensions, realities ect. could be modes of this Being. That certainly doesn't exlude the idea of advanced lifeforms (Gods or Aliens, depending on the terminology used) and various entities...

How can there be more than One God?

I like this idea but then where does these Aliens-Gods came from? But that's exactly what 'Soft Polytheism' is about to me. Multiple Gods who ultimately originate from One Source. I've no problem with this concept and as a Panentheist I may actually include it in my belief-system. That the...

How can there be more than One God?

But how does one know that they are 'Gods' and not advanced extraterrestrial beings or some disembodied entities living in the cosmos? Because a lot of pagans I talked to told me that they experienced their Gods as finite beings with distinct personalities and weakenesses (just like any living...

How can there be more than One God?

Hi, I am trying to get more perspective and more information on what some Pagans refer to as 'Hard Polytheism'. How could there be more than One God? I can't quite wrap my head around the idea that there should be more than One divine source. I've come to grip with notion of 'Soft...
