I've offered several possible examples, none of which I'm invested in. I have asked - repeatedly - for an example or two that your cohort thinks is valid...
I majored in molecular biology :)
This is a discussion about the nature of categories. The fact that rare exceptions exist, does not render categories invalid. If it did, we probably couldn't have categories at all. But society largely runs on slightly imperfect categories.
The categories of...
Well the first sentence is wrong because Muslims are not an ethnicity. Maybe the authors equate Muslims with Arabs?
Next, I find "islamophobia" to be a fundamentally dishonest term. If we take the basic, universal claims of Islam at face value, there is good reason to conclude that Islam is a...
Your continued lack of civility seems almost pathological :(
Anyway, YOU are the one banging on about how a rule isn't a rule if there are exceptions, and several of us disagree. In this case we are talking about a categorization, that of biological sex. So zooming out and talking about the...
Civilization runs on categorizations. We use them all the time, even when they're not 100% perfect. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a categorization that doesn't have a few exceptions.
I suspect you haven't read all 1100+ posts in this thread, no worries.
So to review, a woman is raped by an intact trans woman. In the courtroom, the victim is on the stand, and the rapist's lawyer is doing what lawyers do and attacking the victim. The victim says "he raped me". The lawyer says...
Thanks for clarifying! I think in this exchange we're debates GAC drugs?
I can't recall if you're participating in the newish thread in European politics concerning the fact that the NHS has decided to mostly ban the use of puberty blockers?
To summarize, when we're talking about GAC -...
Fantastic examples, thanks.
Okay the guy in the video said:
"Gender is how an individual organism expresses their sexual identity in a cultural context".
Do you think that any of your examples from above are individuals expressing their sexual identity? I don't.
Again, your post is somewhat comforting.
But zooming out, I don't think it's wise to underestimate the craftiness of politicians. I think most of them (all?), are corrupt, but not stupid. Take the dumpster fire for example. I see him as a sort of propaganda-savant. The fact that he's convinced...
Concerning GAC, I have provided many links. As a courtesy I narrowed it down to the one interview with the Finnish doctor. The other links are consistent with what she said. I do not recall anyone directly addressing her claims.

At this point there are well over 1,100 posts on this thread...
Society could not function without categorizations. Almost every categorization scheme has exceptions. One important categorization scheme is biological sex. Society runs on the idea that most of the time a person is either male or female. Our healthcare systems are designed around this idea...
Not my point, I'm responding to the video. Again, I'm happy to use an example of a socially constructed gender role. Can you provide an example that you are happy with? The reason I'm asking is because at this moment we're discussing the video. thanks.
And that's where one of our disagreements lie. Even though there are rare exceptions, for practical purposes sex is binary. It's binary when it comes to emergency care and many other medical interventions. It's binary when it comes to assault. It's binary when it comes to women's rights to...
The first link I provided includes links to many files. I think many of your questions would be answered by the document that's focused on how widely other medical organizations having to putting their faith on WPATH.
I think we're both capable of broadly understanding research evidence papers...
As I said in my first post in this thread, that would all be great, but it's frequently not happening.
- there is often no informed consent
- the process is often rushed
- the medical "team" for a patient is often quite disjointed.
Things would be far less dire if your vision of how it should...
In my first post on this thread, I provided a list of medical associations that rely on WPATH. And that list is documented in the link I provided.
You would think that they could point to high quality data then, wouldn't you?
And if they can't, it calls into question how they arrived at their...
