Are you a male or female

We Never Know

I was at a new Dr today and as the person was asking me things to enter my information into their system, the person says "I have to ask you these questions"
1. Are you male or female. To which I chuckled and said male.
2. Where you born a male or a female? To which I answered male of course.
3. Do you identify as a male or female? To which I answered I am male through and through as I was born. I am a male and that's that!

She paused and then said ok let's move on.

It kind of irked me lol

Get over it. Far more noteworthy is the fact that there are non-cisgender people who have been irked for years without folks like you and me knowing or caring.

Well, it's good you didn't mention that little shred of doubt.

Quintessence sighs.

It'd have been wonderful to actually be asked those questions when I started service with my current provider. They didn't. Instead it, and some related questions, were optional things you could fill out if you use their app. And even after filling it out, it feels like my answers don't get taken seriously.

Well...
I had already answered on the 5 pages of paper work I filled out.

Its was in a cubicle where other people waiting can/could hear so for people wanting it private, they are SOL.

It would be simpler just to ask "Do you have gender dysphoria and/or are you a transgender"?

Now before any one says its no ones business, evidently it is or they wouldn't be asking those questions.

I have a notion next time I'm asked to look the person in the eye and answer I'm a female just to see the look on their face.

Hi We Never Know. Good evening.

Genesis 1:27 says "And Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them."

You have every right to feel 'irked' by the nonsense sweeping especially the western world. Today, truth has fallen and anyone standing up for a standard of morality makes himself a prey and is ostracized. The Word of Yahweh says: "14 And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter. 15 Yea, truth is lacking; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey." (Isaiah 59:14-15) It's a Satanic tactic to muddy the waters so that no-one can stand up for truth, calling light darkness and darkness light (Isaiah 5:20) so no-one in their heart can comprehend the Glad Tidings and the truth of the Word.

Not everyone who is genderqueer considers themselves dysphoric (disordered), or transgender.

Well I reckon they need to expand the question to include...
"Are you non-binary, gender non-conforming, agender, esspigender, pangender, genderfluid, adamas gende, demigender, gender neutral, two-spirit, third gender, duragender, or any of the many others not mentioned and if so, what?

My being irked didn't have anything to do with a god or the bible.

You know they have threads for religious debates. Perhaps you could go start a thread about your post and debate it.

Hi We Never Know.

Perhaps.

One of the reasons of you being irked seemed to have come from the fact that you already answered these things on the 5 pages of paper work you had filled out and didn't want to have to go through something that should've been obvious. Had the doctor accepted your first answer that you were a male, you wouldn't be annoyed. The annoyance came when they were follow up questions. As I said, in the Bible it tells us that Yahweh made two genders. So perhaps. Perhaps if the doctor would've accepted this fact you wouldn't have felt irked and the doctor would have accepted your initial self-explanatory response. So yes, perhaps this could be construed as a religious debate.

Perhaps.

Your doctor is trying to be more inclusive and accommodating, but in a way that doesn't directly help you?!

Aww, muffin. You brave, brave boy. How did you get through it?

If you say so cupcake. Go stand in front of your mirror and repeat "I sure told him" three times, click your heels together and you might get a warm fuzzy feeling inside and feel better.

It's always your doctors business, unless you want **** medical care.

If a neurosurgeon who specializes in neck surgery can't figure out if I'm male or female after his intital examination I don't believe I want them operating on me.
But that's me, you do you.

Here's an idea.

when filling the out medical paperwork it asks things such as...

Any surgery history?
-If none check No
-If Yes check all that applies.
-If its not in the list, please explain below.

OR

Any medical history?
-If none check No
-If Yes check all that applies.
-If its not in the list, please explain below.

So why not add...

Any gender history?
-If none check No
-If Yes check all that applies.
-If its not in the list, please explain below.

Point is the reception person doesn't verbally ask you your medical history or surgery history while they are putting you into their system. They go by what you filled out in your paper work... So why verbally ask about gender then?

I think this is a silly hill to stand on .

Just answer the question and go about your day. Asking that question doesn't violate medical privacy at a reception desk.
