Grover Cleveland he ain’t. I don’t think enough people are ignorant enough to vote Trump in 2024. It’s the Trumpists that follow in his footsteps that are equally unhinged but can (for the most part) shut their nescient mouths long enough to present the façade of sanity we have to worry about now.
It is a big worry, considering the flailing of the Biden admin.
My ideal situation is to primary Biden/Harris successfully without planting a populist, reality-challenged Trumpist in the WH in 2024 after the GOP inevitably takes the Senate in 2022 and possibly the House. That’s about the worst scenario I can reasonably imagine.
Never thought I’d long for the days of GOP as “reasonable” as Romney and McCain.
Flailing? In what way? He was not my first choice (or second) but so far I think he is doing well, overall.
Speaking on sheer approval rating as compared to recent presidents in the same time frame.
In post-epistemic America, the facts don’t really matter (and I am not saying I agree with that, just making an observation). Observe how Hillary, also not my first or second choice, or third, so on, could be taken down by avalanche after avalanche of falsehoods and manufactroversies.
America perceives a flailing presidency. Unless Americans get distracted with something shiny, that will only catapult the traditional backswing in the midterms against a new incumbent.
There hasn’t been a “reasonable” Republican President since George Bush Sr., and before him you have to go back to Eisenhower.Grover Cleveland he ain’t. Actually, I fear 2022. The citizenry of the US often don’t show up to the polls in non-presidential years, and that’s when the fanatics get their most dangerously crazy twits into state seats, over the actual will of the majority.Yeah, his approval rating has taken a hit, though not deservedly so IMO. He was dealt a lousy hand to start his term.
I worry about 2024. It will be very, very ugly, I fear.
