Probably the latter.

It certainly is a sobering thought the way the world is looking right now, such disunity and everyone with a finger on the button. Reminds me of a great movie, 'On the Beach'. The 'buttons' were pressed and the last place on earth waiting for the 'cloud' to reach them was Australia.

You hear of the end of the world in various religions but what really triggers it in reality? Gee, I wonder..........

The butterfly effect triggers the end of the world.

If you had a time machine, and went back in history with a butterfly, and it landed on a leaf, which scared a grasshopper, which hopped and scared a cow, which ran into a barn and knocked over a kerosene lamp which burned the barn down, which made a neighbor believe that his farmhouse was destroyed by intentionally burning down the neighboring barn and having the ash float over and catch his house on fire. Then the farmer gets his French relatives to attack their Italian neighbors, and that triggers WW III.

Or, something to that effect.

If you change one detail in the past (like a butterfly fluttering by), it will change the future.

God knows the future. So, God could tell you that if you do something, it will have numerous effects.

Each effect looks like it was caused by science (a kerosene lamp will naturally burn down a barn if knocked over), but God knows that it is a part of a series of events.

Since God knows that doing one thing will effect another, in Revelation (a chapter of the bible that predicts future events), everyone was warned not to attack Iraq. God wanted everyone to know that one thing would lead to another. In Revelation 15, for example, God warned that we shouldn't attack Iraq or there will be seven plagues, including COVID. What does COVID have to do with attacking Iraq? Nothing, except that attacking Iraq somehow set in motion events that led to other events, that led to other events. The upshot is that we are not as intelligent as all-knowing God, so if we have faith (true belief in God almighty), we should take his word for it that the attack on Iraq would invariably lead to the COVID plague, as God predicted.

You are asking what leads to the end of the world. The answer is that it is a series of events, and the worst part of it was that President George W. Bush was given power (the bible says that W. Bush is the Beast....a Satanic demon from the bottomless pit of hell).

Given that you put a Satanic demon in charge of the United States, it stands to reason that there will be bloody wars with blood trails leading to Satan, and torture camps, environmental damage, and, all the while, W. Bush will mascarade as a church goer....exactly as Satan would. Remember, Satan often mascarades as God, and pretends to be good, and rules by fear, lies, and greed (just as W. Bush did).

To atheists, it looks like a lot of unrelated info. They can't see the complex interconnections that the bible insists are there. To them, it looks like COVID spontaneously appeared, or escaped from a lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They don't realize that it is all related somehow. Only God is smart enough to see how everything is interrelated.
