I got a rather infuriating awakening today. My phone alert buzzing woke me up, so I figured I might as well check it. It was one of my friends saying she doesn't know how I can be friends with one of my other friends and her family based on stuff other friend's dad posts of Facebook. So I spent about a half hour sending replies describing the characteristics of individual family members, pointing out the goodness in their characters, and yeah, we disagree a lot (other friend and her family are my truther friends), but when in the bluest of blue hell did that ever become a disqualifying condition for friendship? I don't know what has gotten into my friend, she used to never complain or whine, and since I've been back I've discovered she has picked up whining and complaining about things millennials whine and complain about.
I can't thank god I'm a country boy, but thank whatever I'm an 80s kid who got out into the world before technology soured society.

By what standards and measurements? They rejected me, I rejected them, I don't like basketball, football, or racing, eating more than a little bit of corn causes an IBS flair up, I don't talk like them, think like them, dress like them, or act like them.

That's why I just tell people I'm from California. Though not originally, of course, but I do live there and I came from there to here as I visit friends and family. Although South-ish, MidWest, and West Coast does seem like a fascinating lot. I guess the next upgrade will have to be to another country, lol.

And now my friend is going on about how her non-Spanish speaking, partly Spaniard American born and raised boyfriend is Hispanic and that her daughter who also is non-Spanish speaking, less partly Spaniard American born and raised is also Hispanic. And this building from the conversation of this friend bashing my other friends.
Truly, I'm to the point of wanting to go back home now and just live out of a hotel. I was looking forward to visiting, and my parents are both of retirement age so they will need help, but I didn't realize I'd be walking into a mountain of stress.
