There are many kinds of Buddhist meditation. It could be a complicated question. I've no idea myself. Sorry.Sorry for my ignorant question ...
the wikipedia article refers to it as meditation, does this mean it's the same as buddhist sitting meditation?
thank you

Basically it is continuous or at least repeated attention/meditation on Vedantic teachings/Mahavakyas/ or gurus' teachings.
it's okay ! Thank you anyways!
is it like dhyana? is it an intellectual task like deep pondering??
I am asking because from what I read on some sources it's not typical seated meditation, no?
Thanks for the reply
Niddhidhyasana, of Jnana yoga, is like what is referred to as Dhyana of Yoga Sutras. Or, Shravana, mañana, and niddhidhyasana together comprise dhyana.
Niddhidhyasana is not intellectual pondering, which is the stage of 'mañana'. However, you are correct that niddhidhyasana can occur continually while one is active in whatever activity.
