What is the significance of the color white of the horse in Revelation 6:2?

People say that the rider has to picture Jesus and no one else because he rides a white horse and to them, white means righteous.

But, what else might the white horse signify?

The color white in the context of Revelation indicates righteousness, but it is no guarantee of anything more than the APPEARANCE of righteousness. The rider of the white horse could not be Jesus, because Jesus (the Lamb) is the One Who opened the seal; it makes no sense for Jesus to call Himself forward by opening the first seal. Also, the rider carries a bow; Jesus' weapon is the sword.

The rider is more likely the antichrist, loosed at the beginning of the Tribulation period, with Jesus coming at its end. The white horse thus represents the appearance of righteousness of the antichrist--who appears as a political savior and becomes a world leader.

Thank you. I agree with that........until I read another opinion that it might picture pestilence.

Life is precious and though it be bad sometimes it is from God and therefore, righteous. I like the pestilence theory because it matches the other horses better.

Someone who wants to appear righteous but isn't. The United Nations uses all white vehicles. White tanks etc. It's bizarre really, but the UN wants to appear like the good guys. I'm not buying it. Although I'm not saying the UN is the white horse of Revelation either.

The universality of the white horse to me has deep significance since it appears in at least Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Islamic prophetic lore.

In Hinduism, Kalki (Devanagari: कल्कि; lit. destroyer of filth) is the tenth and final avatar of the god Vishnu in the current Mahayuga, foretold to appear at the end of Kali Yuga, the current epoch. The Purana scriptures foretell that Kalki will be atop a white horse with a drawn blazing sword.

In at least one Jewish legend, we see this symbolism: There was great rejoicing in Heaven. Elijah the Prophet began to practice mighty blasts on the shofar to announce the coming of the Messiah, and the Messiah himself led his white horse out of the Heavenly Stable, to prepare for the descent.
A Treasury of Jewish Folklore, edited by Nathan Ausubel - Commentary Magazine

In Islam we also find this: Twelver Shī'a Islamic traditions envisage that the Mahdi will appear riding a white horse.White horse (mythology) - Wikipedia

"He who sat on it....had a crown.... and went out conquering" (Rev 6:2). This is with respect to the 7th head of the beast, Constantine, who was given a vision by Sol Invictus, the sun god, at his battle of Milvian Bridge, whereas Constantine was to go out and conquer under the sign of the cross. Constantine was the "beast with two horns like a lamb" who was to "deceive those who dwell on the earth" (Rev 13:14). One of the horns of the beast, who was like a lamb (Rev 13:11), was the false prophet Paul, whose false gospel of the cross/grace, is the sign by which Constantine conquered.

The name 'Kalki' is derived from the Sanskrit word 'kalka' (Devanagari: कल्क) which means Sediment or Filth. So, the name "Kalk"+"I" means "Born in (or from) Sediment/Filth'. Kalki - Wikipedia

I think it was a typo. I think the "r" in "horse" was supposed to be a "u".

That white horse does not repent Jesus at all.
This white horse and rider, comes masquerading by deception to deceive many people into believing that the horse and rider is Jesus.

If you notice the rider comes with a bow, but with no arrows. As to how can this rider conquer anyone with just a bow?

Being without arrows, meaning his words are false.
And a crown was given unto him.
Meaning he's coming like a king, but everything about him is false.

He comes conquering and to conquer.
Meaning, this rider is coming by deception to deceive people into believing he is Christ Jesus, therefore he conquers them, by his deceptions and deceiving them by his words of deceptions.

Look one of the best way to conquer people, is by deceptions and deceiving people. Into believing their someone else that their not.
And this rider knows exactly how to do it, without being discovered, who exactly he really is. Until it's to late for people.

It's like a rolling ball, if there's nothing in the way to stop the ball, the ball will keep rolling.
You see that's how people will be, once they give themselves over to this rider, everything is in motion and once it's start there's no stopping.they have lost all sense of awareness that their so deep into it,
that they just keep going and going and going and --------------- ect.
That their being deceived and don't even know it and they go out deceiving people.

It's not hard to know the difference between this rider on the white horse and the rider on the white horse in
Revelation 19:11-16.
Notice this rider does not come alone, but with all the Angels of heaven. And he has a sword and fire in his eyes, and on his head he has many crowns and on his side he has the name written, King of Kings and LORD of LORDS. This Rider being Christ Jesus himself.
So it is not hard to know the difference between the two riders and the white horse.
If you know what your looking for between the two.
In Revelation 6:2 and Revelation 19:11-16.

"Those who dwell on the earth" have already been deceived, and carry the mark of the beast, who is represented as riding a white horse. The Eastern Church already bestowed sainthood on the beast, Constantine, who instituted the Roman church, a harlot daughter of Babylon, who is the mother of the Protestant churches. (Rev 17:5).

That of Revelation 6:2 has not happened yet, So i dont know where your coming from. Which is still future from us.
As with Revelation 17, hasn't happened yet. Which is still future from us.

How do people like yourself take Prophecy of the book of Revelation and apply it to past tense, When Prophecy of the book of Revelation is all about future tense. And not pass tense.
Which is still future from us.

You have no clue or idea as to who Babylon the Great the Mother of Harlots is.

Nor how Babylon the Great the Mother of Harlots fits into the book of Revelation.

.

You might want to reread the testimony of Yeshua and Revelation. Revelation was written during the period of the 6th head of the beast, the one that is (Rev 17:10). As part of the followers of the beast of Daniel 7:25 & Rev 13:11, your church of Constantine, has been wearing down the saints for the last 1700 years.

The “tribulation” for the saints has been on going on for millennium, and started for the followers of Yeshua with Peter denying him (Mt 26:31-33 & Mt 24:9-10) & (Zech 13:7). One of the main persecutors was your false prophet Paul. You are confusing the “tribulation” with the “great tribulation”. The “great tribulation” starts with Revelation 6:12, and remains behind the door (Mt 24:33). Don’t fret, it will all be more apparent as events unfold. Things may not go well for you, but that is how the ball bounces.

Revelation 17:9-10 …9 This calls for a mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. 10There are also seven kings. Five are fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while

Savagewind,
Just as the White horse means clean and righteous, Here, Revelation 6:2 and at Revelation 19:11, the White Horse means that it is Righteous warfare that Jesus carries out. Jesus, and the ones with him are wearing bright clean white, fine linen and also, like Jesus, on white horses Scriptures Revelation 19:11 to 21, is another picture of Armageddon.
Another interesting point here is Jesus has a sharp sword protruding from his mouth, used to strike the nations. Earlier Jesus had told his disciples, when Peter had drawn his sword to protect Jesus, that everyone who takes up the sword will die by the sword. This seems to indicate that all who take up the sword, in warfare will, either be killed in that war, or if they live, and do not repent, they will be killed by the sword from Jesus’ mouth, at Armageddon. This seems to mean that No war started by men is a righteous war!
