1) What in your opinion is Sin?

2) What in your opinion would be the opposite of Sin?

3) Is there another term that one could plug into scripture replacing the term 'sin', as an equal term of usage?

1) What in your opinion is Sin?
Made up nonsense that makes it easier to suppress and rule the masses by convencing them their is something fundamentally very wrong and flawed with them and they don't apologize for being human they are going to anger god and go to hell.
2) What in your opinion would be the opposite of Sin?
As sin does not exist, it has no opposite.
3) Is there another term that one could plug into scripture replacing the term 'sin', as an equal term of usage?
No, as a few sins you don't need a book of ancient superstitions to know, and the rest are arbitrary nonsense.

It's all Make-Believe. Sin is just something that somebody made up one day and turned it into a religious crisis.

Too broad of a question to ask outside of specific faith groups. Its different things to different religious groups which means it can't be discussed well in this part of the forum. Try same faith debates.

Sin means transgression. Its also used in translating in Buddhist Dharma; its not specific to one religion based on translation.

2) What in your opinion would be the opposite of Sin?

Devotion

3) Is there another term that one could plug into scripture replacing the term 'sin', as an equal term of usage?

Transgression (of god) of gods laws
Act against (god) Laws

We were all given free will
Free will has not been proven to exist.
And imperfection makes bad choices, easier to commit.
So, when will god start accepting blame for making imperfection and imperfect beings? When someone makes an imperfect product, we hold them responsible for making a poor-quality product. Why does god so often get a free pass?

1) What in your opinion is Sin?
Sin is the English word used by most, if not all Bible translators, in translation of the Hebrew word – חַטָּאת – ḥattaʾt, from the Hebrew Scriptures; and the Greek word – ἁμαρτία – hamartia, from the chr-stian texts. Sin is a very ambiguous and confounded word, and I don’t believe that any of its definitions are accurate translations for either the Hebrew or Greek word which they are translating. That is as much of an opinion of the English word “sin” as I have.

The definition of the Hebrew word ḥattaʾt is: mistake, error, mishap, accident, inadvertence, missing the mark. The definition of the Greek word hamartia is exactly the same. If you accidently write 2+2=5 on a math test, that is a ḥattaʾt; if you intentionally write 2+2=5 it is not a ḥattaʾt, it is an – עָווֹן – ʿavon, or an intentional wrong doing.
2) What in your opinion would be the opposite of Sin?
Accuracy, correctness, precision, exactness, etc.
3) Is there another term that one could plug into scripture replacing the term 'sin', as an equal term of usage?
Certainly, any of the actual definitions: mistake, mishap, accident, error, etc.

I have understood that sin is the opposite of righteousness. For example because of this:

He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.
1 John 3:7-10

And righteousness is like right understanding and attitude, wisdom of the just, that makes person do right things.

Righteous is loyal to God, keeps His words, while unrighteous, sinner is unfaithful to God. If person is not loyal to God, he rejects the commandments that say for example don’t murder. When person rejects God, all evil things come possible. But if person is faithful to God, he loves his neighbor as himself. And it is not because of reward, but because person understands it is good and right.

"The righteous will live by faith."

Galatians 3:11

But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 10:38

You just proved by evidence, in calling sin
Nonsense and that sin does not exist.
That you have no idea or clue what sin is.

So how would you even know where to begin, to talk about something that you have no idea or clue what it is your trying to talking about.
If your going to talk about something, you first got to know by understanding what it is your talking about first, otherwise your just going to look foolish.

That's like your going to work on a car, but you haven't a clue or idea how to work on a car.
only to make yourself look foolish.

First to talk about sin, you would have to understand what sin is ?
Otherwise it's just foolishness for anyone talk about sin, unless you know what sin is?

Free will has not been proven to exist.

Maybe our definitions of 'free will' are different. To me, free will is the ability to choose a path....the opposite of being an automaton, a programmed robot.

Because of this, it can be misused. For example, you might want to kill someone, and you do. There will be repercussions, you will pay for your actions.

Just because you acknowledge something as non existant doesn't mean you can't understand what it is the idea is supposed to be about. Such as, I have a pretty good understanding of Game of Thrones and can explain why I think Jamie Lannister will be the true hero of it all, but none of it is real.

Because of this, it can be misused. For example, you might want to kill someone, and you do. There will be repercussions, you will pay for your actions.

We can choose whether we will follow God’s moral guidance or not.
That doesn't prove the existence of free will. It may just be that every thing we do is the result of web of cause and effect.
The gift of freedom of choice, though, does not mean absolute freedom. It does not free us from the physical and moral laws that God made for the stability and peace of the universe. These laws were set up for our good, and any violation of them could lead to serious consequences. Just think of what would happen if we chose to ignore the law of gravity and jumped off the roof of a tall building!
I'll never be able to violate the laws of physics, but god's law I violate on a regular basis, and often encourage it.
The writer Corliss Lamont asks: “How can we attribute ethical responsibility to men, and punish them for wrongdoing, if we accept . . . that their choices and actions are predetermined?” Of course, we cannot.
Why can't we hold them accountable? We do it to various drug addicts, even though some drugs are addictive enough to enslave a user into compulsive usage and engaging in crime in order to obtain money to obtain their next fix..
How unloving and unjust Jehovah God would be if before we were born, he predetermined the course we would take and then held us responsible for our actions! He does not do this, for “God is love,” and “all his ways are justice.” (1 John 4:8; Deuteronomy 32:4) Having given us freedom of choice, he did not at the same time ‘determine from eternity whom he would save and whom he would damn,’ as believers in predestination assert. Freedom of choice precludes predestination.
Many Christians have disagreed with this position, and that god does predestine some for heaven. One of the reasons being that god knows everything, including the future, so you can't do anything he doesn't already know will happen.

Of course, we cannot. Instinct-driven animals are not held morally responsible for what they do,
We are instinct driven animals. And like other instinctively social animals, we also have group rules and behaviors and consequences for breaking those rules.

All you article did was establish how little the author knows and understands about how the world around us effects us and how our genes and culture prime us into certain behaviors and traits. And if you cannot see where your limits are, you cannot extend them.
