It's easy to spend that amount - hire 137 people and pay them close to $1million/day to pick up litter, for example. Or twice as many people at 1/2 the pay.

You are a thinker! My son says that he would pay people more than the usual amount to get the things he wants for himself. It would put a lot of people to work!
I could piece it out, build it from scratch, part by part.
I thought of that! My daughter says that to spend that much in one year would be too much work. She says that every day is buying day and that would not be fun. I tend to disagree.

With half a billion I could buy a pile of diamonds worth hundreds of millions of dollars. So why would I take the million?
And if I took the half a billion and invested every penny does that count as spending it?

Since I am not able to donate the money to another I will therefore buy supplies with the money and donate the supplies to the needy and then and save some money for my college and for a rainy day.
