This Week in Rape Culture:

Yes, you read my thread title correctly, because two very recent crimes are a result of what happens when we stop considering the power differences between men and women, and start becoming overly concerned about guys who just got their signals crossed etc

Elliot Rodger.
I'm active on another website where I actually personally encountered Elliot. I encouraged him to dig deeper into other philosophies; that there is more to masculinity than being in an intimate relationship with someone, that us celibates can live formidable lives despite what society says.

I read some of his manifesto and have concluded that he was simply too emotionally sensitive to deal with the bigger issues in life. He experienced some bullying from males & females and was incredibly frustrated with his sexuality. He became lost in his own little world where sex & intimacy were apparently the epitomical basis of what he considered "happiness". That is delusional thinking, and Western culture encourages this thinking in both men AND women, so stop singling out men.

Elliot's experience has nothing to do with this mythological "rape culture" you hacks preach about. He was a kissless virgin. He actually even killed more males than females. If he were truly a product of "rape culture" you'd see this happening tens to thousands of times a year. But it doesn't, because Elliot was merely suffering from severe delusion. He used his free will to lash out at others in spite. It's really not that hard to kill when you've worked up a sound rationalization for it; soldiers do it all the time.

The fact that women have responded to this event on twitter & other social media with hashtag #killallmen just proves that misandry runs just as deep in this country as misogyny.

Obviously a manufactured controversy. Most of the people who have tweeted that have been either men, blatant fake accounts created just for the occasion.

You are being trolled.

And this is why everyone around him failed him.
And this why it will happen again.
We, as a society, are too busy not seeing when our kids need help until it's too late.
I found this info which paints a larger picture of the Elliot massacre....

To reduce it to simple labels about gender & race would be to miss all the problems.
I'm particularly struck by his prior brushes with violence, both bullying & being bullied.
