Vedas PDF?

The Sum of Awe

Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
I would like to read the Vedas. I don't know where to buy one since we only go to a mall that has a Barnes and Nobles once or twice a year, otherwise I'd definitely buy it for sure.

Run a google search and you'd probably be able to find some.
I found the Rig Veda that way. In pdf.

My pdf reader isn't working for some reason right now, though...

Shouldn't this be in the Hindu DIR?

To be honest, I would suggest you to read the Bhagavad Gītā first. The reason being is it's more widely followed, it's not very long, it has multiple translations, a large chunk of which are good ones.

In comparison, the Vedas do not have many good translations, let alone many free ones -- and the Vedas are an "upper intermediate" level of knowledge, IMHO. They are complex, and ancient. The most commonly found one that people go for is the Ralph Griffith translation. I would not suggest it. Aside from being both old-fashioned and pretty clumsy reading, there are doubts about how good his translation is. He gets the words right - but what about idioms? Chances are he, as well as Max Müller, were missing the point of much of the texts.

If you still wish to, though, I did a bit of digging for you for some more decent translations. Sadly, though, they are not really a .pdf file. I'm not sure why you want a .pdf anyway though. I've sacrificed the .pdf file type for decent translation. :p

Starting at the very beginning of the Vedas:
Rig Ved - VedicGranth.Org

Or directly linked:

Virendra Agarwa's Ṛgveda translation
Soami Divyanad's Ṛgveda translation

If, however, you decide to go with the Bhagavad Gītā, which I would suggest, then I would recommend you look at Swami Nirmalananda Giri's translation.

I've linked everything for your convenience. If you have any other questions, ask us.
