Hristos a-nviat! (Christ is risen)

I've been away over the Paschal feast but am now back and would like to join with Joannicius in thanking those who wished us a happy Easter - even though I don't use that term myself. It really is the most wonderful, and most important, time in the Orthodox Church's year.

Yeah, I got that impression from what Joannicius wrote too. Thanks guys, for being so understanding of my cultural ignorance.

Well I do hope that Pascha this year was everything that you guys hoped it would be! :)

Adevarat a-nviat!

I love Pasca (the food , I mean!) :p !
I love Pasca too. I make some every year and this one was no exception. I also make cozonac (though usually at Christmas time - both cakes are such hard work so I don't tend to make them together!). My wife also made sarmale (cu varza acra) though I have to make the varza acra myself as you just can't get it in Britain. It takes a long time but it's worth it. We had a real Romanian Easter. Luckily we also live close to the only Romanian Orthodox church outside London (though there is a Romanian monastery in Shropshire).

I basically consider myself to be an adoptive Romanian nowadays, making Romanian food, speaking the language, loving the history and, of course, being a member of the Romanian church. When I speak, I apparently sound like a Bucovina peasant - my wife laughs and calls me 'taran', but what can you expect when you learn it from listening to co-workers who mostly come from villages? The one thing I still can't abide is Romanian folk music, though - the singers always sound like tortured cats.

Anyway, glad to see a Romanian here and I hope you keep posting.

ah, i love cozonac too. My mother and grandmother, being moldavian, cook like angels :162:. Delicious! Oh, sarmale, I didn't eat any this easter :(. Oh, well, i'll have to wait for Christmas.

yeah, you don't see many pickled cabbages in Britain now'adays.

I can just hear you. :p

yeah, I don't like the vocal music either...I guess it's an aquired taste. I like the instrumental romanian folk music with the violins and acordeons and nai flutes. That's the good music!
